I smiled coyly. “Let’s just say, he knows his way around a woman’s body.”
“He certainly looks like he does.” Megan nodded appreciatively. “Did you cum?”
I smiled and nodded.
“Fuck, you came your very first time,” Megan said. “Damn, the boy’s good. So does this mean you’re dating him?”
“Well, I suppose we are dating.” I nodded. “It’s just a little complicated with Jenna around. We’re trying to keep it from her for the time being.”
“Because?”
“Come on,” I said. “I would have thought that'd be obvious. She’s four, and she’s never had a mother in her life. I’m the closest thing, and if she knew about Reed and me, she might expect that this was how things would always be and… that might not be the case.”
“Meaning you might end up breaking up?”
“It’s possible,” I said. “In fact, it’s more likely to end in a breakup than in… well, marriage.”
“Then why do you look so hopeful?” Megan asked.
“I… don’t… I’m not… that’s not—”
Megan laughed. “I’m teasing; it’s not a crime to want to marry the man.”
“Urgh,” I said, covering my face with my hands. “It happened so fast. I can’t believe I let myself fall so hard.”
“Wait, are you saying you are actually in love with him?” Megan asked.
I looked up and nodded slowly. “I think I am.”
“Well, that’s a good thing.”
“That depends on how you look at it.”
“How many ways are there to look at it?” Megan asked, in confusion.
“It’s just complicated,” I said. “What with Jenna and Sofia and… Brady.”
“Okay, Jenna I know about,” Megan said. “She’s the kid, but who the hell are Sofia and Brady? Wasn’t your stepfather’s name Brady?”
I realized that Megan didn’t know the whole story. “Oh boy,” I sighed. “Where do I start?”
“How about with Sofia?”
I was forced to recount Reed’s past with his crazy ex-girlfriend, the threats she made to Jenna, the restraining order, and the calls that started up right around the time I started working for Reed. When I finished, Megan looked at me with wide eyes.
“Damn… that is quite a situation.”
“Reed has it handled though,” I said confidently. “He’s been looking into private detectives.”
“That’s good.” Megan nodded. “Now… about the other name you mentioned… Brady?”
“That’s a… weirder story.”
Megan looked intrigued, and when I had finished explaining everything to her, she looked positively gobsmacked.
“Whoa… if they made a Lifetime movie about your life, no one would ever believe it.”
“Right?” I sighed. “Can you believe the coincidence?”
