Moël
Icould hear my brothers' voices, along with the feminine tones of their mates, coming through the walls. The females laughed about something Lucien said. Of all people, I never thought I’ll see the day when he would be funny. Many things were a first for me lately.
Just like the female on my bed...
She looked so small and fragile, almost lost between the covers. Her face was devoid of any emotion, and her parted lips didn’t move. Thick lashes cast crescent shadows on her cheekbones, but they didn’t flutter. I wished with everything in me for them to blink so she could open her eyes. Since I placed her on the bed, she hasn’t shown a sign of waking up. Although when I whispered to her, the fingers on her right hand twitched.
It gave me false hope the first hour.
Now, I just loomed over her, staring like some creep.
She was beautiful.
My hand reached for the scar on my face before I realized what I was doing. Clenching my fist, I dropped it to my side. She deserved a mate like Étienne. Even Lucien was a better much for the Muse in my bed. Not a scared, broken male like me. My carefree persona I created, so they stopped asking me what was wrong fooled, everyone. Maybe I could fool the female as well if I tried hard enough.
Would a mate know if you ate irreparably broken inside and out?
Fates, I hoped not.
I’ll just act like my usual self when she wakes, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll disappear. I was the king’s assassin, after all.
I was excellent at vanishing like I'd never existed.
