“I thought about it briefly, but hyphenated Johnson-Johnson feels too corporate.” Tian couldn’t stop grinning not from the conversation, which was funny, but from the fact in just three days she’d be Mrs. Christian R. Johnson.

The clerk laughed at Tian’s joke. He turned to his printer and pulled off a paper. “There you go. One wedding license. Best wishes and good luck.”

Chris took Tian’s hand as they left the office. “Are you sure you’re ready for this?”

Tian turned to face him. “Yes. I want to spend the rest of my life confusing people with our names.” She placed a hand on his shoulder and brushed a soft kiss across his lips. “They should take bets on who we can confuse most. My bet is on the nurse who helps us fill out the birth certificate for our first child.”

Child? Chris loved the idea. “No, the first kindergarten teacher when our son insists his parents have the same name.”

“Son? You mean daughter?”

“I guess we’ll need to make sure to have one of both.” Chris dropped a kiss on her lips and ignored the people passing by.
