“No, jefe,” Javier said. He was not pleading. In fact, he knew his fate was sealed and he would not plead.

Carlos grabbed Javier’s hair, jerked his head back and screamed in his face, “That girl that you have taken, she is my niece. She is fourteen. Now, after a pig like you has had her, no decent man will want her.”

“I did not know…”

Whack! They all heard the sound of Carlos striking him in the face with his handgun.

Javier looked at his boss contemptuously and calmly said, “Be a man. Do it yourself.”

Carlos smiled an evil smile and flicked a finger at the grave. Berto swung a shovel and hit Javier on the head with it and the two strong men picked him up and threw him in. Dazed but still conscious, he looked up and saw Carlos staring down at him.

The men took turns filling the grave while Carlos and Javier stared at each other. Javier never made a peep.
