My heart skips, my hand tightening around hers as the weight of what she’s just shown me sinks in.

“This is…” I can’t quite finish the sentence. My thoughts are tumbling over each other. My gaze rises to her face, searching for something, for the truth behind the painting. Her eyes meet mine, full of that same quiet understanding.

“It’s ours,” she says, her voice soft, barely a whisper. “I thought… This is what we’ve been building toward. The future we’ve dreamed of, the one I’ve dreamed of. Together.”

I step closer, my hand shaking as I take in the painting again. The home. The light. The hint of a nursery. This is no longer just about the past we’ve reconciled, the present we’ve built. It’s about something bigger, something deeper. A life that stretches out in front of us, filled with promise, with new beginnings.

I touch her cheek gently, feeling the warmth of her skin beneath my fingertips. "Our future, Bella?" My voice is hushed, reverent.

She smiles, and it’s not the same smile from earlier. It’s softer, warmer, the kind that speaks of something eternal. "Our future," she whispers as she presses my hand to her stomach.

And in that moment, I realize that this is just the beginning. We have a lifetime ahead of us, one we’ll build together, piece by piece, moment by moment, one brushstroke at a time.
