“I don’t know, sir. I’m sorry.” He bows.
“Alpha, are you sure you don’t need more than your wife?” asks one of the officers with clear amusement.
Good to know at least one person can find fun in all of this.
“Are you offering yourself?” I ask, looking him straight in the eyes.
He visibly gulps.
“No, sir, I’m sorry, sir,” he bows his head the same way that Omega did.
I look around the room with annoyance.
“I hope you are not these tiny little lame fucks when I’m not around, because if you are, then it’s good I secured the peace by marrying that girl all of you were so scared of!”
I mean every word I say. We will not win anything if they are so weak and easily bent. I’ll have to ask my Beta in private because maybe it is just me scaring them shitless.
Maybe they are smart enough if they are terrified of me that much. They should be. Especially now that I have a wife and my plan can finally—
They are all saved by the door opening again.
“Alpha, the traitor that was snitching inside our ranks for Officer Asher,” two Warriors bring me a beat-up, good-looking young guy we added to the ranks about a year ago.
I roll my eyes. Of course, the double agent worked forher.
I grab my sword and cut off his head in no time. Blood is spilling and gushing on everything and everyone.
“You didn’t want to interrogate him first, sir?” asks one of the Officers closest to the gruesome scene. He wipes his face with a rag.
I guess I could have interrogate him first, if not for my anger. That’s probably why I’m not feeling any mating pull yet. I am still a little bit too hot-headed for that. Good, that’s for the best, now that I have a wife who I need to achieve my lifelong goal. Plus, I guess killing your true mate when you can feel the bond is not that easy, and that would be exactly what I would need to do as soon as possible.
I can’t have any weaknesses if I want to change anything in this fucked up world.
“What for? We already know who he was working for,” I ask rhetorically, and that’s when my wife chooses to come inside, almost tripping over the head that was cut off from her most trusted double agent.
Chapter 9 – Rightfully Mad
Back to Asher’s POV
Ilook around the Rogue Prince’s blood-splattered office and meet the green eyes of his Beta, who, a few weeks ago, brought me the first draft of the peace deal we ultimately signed yesterday. He is almost as big as my husband—a handsome, dark, mixed-race man with a short shaved head.
I guessPrince Cainfinally knows my name.
I brave myself and look down at the lifeless head of Colton.
“So, that’s why you don’t feel your mate bond yet, huh? Your Highness?” I can’t stop staring at the empty-looking eyes of my best friend, even when I hear sudden silence in the room.
“I can feel the mate bond,” he lies through his teeth. “What are you suggesting?”
I look up at his angry eyes and then down again.
“Well…” I point my hand at all the bloody mess he just made without any interrogation if what that Officer said is true.
I’mmadat Colton’s senseless death, but I don’t run around with a sword, do I?
I ask everyone to leave, but I’m completely ignored. Even the Rogue Prince who summoned me here is not paying attention to anything except his dark-red wet sword. He’s cleaning the blade with a rag, not caring about me or the trickles of blood on his handsome face.
I hate to be ignored. I have Alpha blood, after all.
