Fuck. What the hell had he been thinking? He hadn't been. That was the point. He was never in his right mind with Nina, especially since he'd gotten his first taste.

In the span of one day, he'd convinced her to marry him under suspect circumstances and now might have gotten her pregnant. None of which he felt an ounce of remorse for. How could he when it got him inside Nina after all these years?

Today, tomorrow or any other day of their life, he would do whatever it took to keep her as his. Nothing could stop him.

Chapter Eleven

Nina openedher eyes and then immediately shut them again against the bright Carolina sunshine blazing through her bedroom window. As she willed her eyes to adjust to the light, instinct kicked in and she shot up.

Oh shit. What time was it? She reached to scoop up her phone from the nightstand to check the time and found it not there.

What the hell?

When she began searching the room for the missing phone she got a whole lot more than she bargained for as the sight of half her toy collection at the foot of the bed brought the memory of the day and night before flooding back to her.

Everything came back. The good, the bad and the crazy.

She lifted her left hand to discover her marriage to Gabe had apparently not been a dream. Nina fell back against the pillows and breathed deep as she relived some of what they'd done the night before.

She'd had sex with Gabe—more than once. That fact alone pretty much blew her mind. The fact they were married though, that had to qualify as her most impulsive act to date.

She scrubbed her face with her hands and swallowed down her squeal of frustration. Of all the things she could have—

"Good, you're awake."

Nina shot to a sitting position to find Gabe emerging from her ensuite bathroom looking as fresh and gorgeous as always in yet another fine suit. Somehow, he seemed to have an endless supply of those lately.

"What have we done?" she groaned, ducking her chin.

A soft chuckle filled the room as Gabe moved closer to the bed. "Is that a rhetorical question or would you like me to recount the deliciousness of the last twelve hours? Or maybe you need me to show you."

"You're incorrigible. And crazy. How did I let you talk me into this?" she held up her hand and pointed to her brand new wedding ring.

"You weren't exactly coerced, babe. In fact, it was surprisingly easy to convince you what a good idea it was."

Nina kicked off the covers and climbed out of bed, ignoring the twinge of pain between her legs. She stood and crossed over to her bureau and dug through the drawers looking for something to wear. Whatever soreness she felt today had been well worth it. However, she needed to get dressed and get her head on straight before he whisked her off to the airport.

Coffee. She needed coffee.

"I have to go to the office for a while. There was a situation last night."

She stopped mid search. "Something at the club? What happened?"

He crossed to her and placed his hand on her bare hip, his fingers splayed wide. "Nothing I can’t handle in a few hours. One of the club submissives broke serious protocol last night and it's my job to decide the appropriate punishment for her today.”

Her head jerked up. "What? You're actually going to punish someone?"

His fingers tightened on her skin. "It's part of the job, Nina. Our clientele relies on me to keep crucial parts of Purgatory discreet. There are strict rules in place for all who volunteer to work the third floor. And when someone breaks a rule, it's my job to examine the infraction and decide how it should be dealt with. And whether or not a certain amount of damage control is needed.”

"Does this happen a lot?"

He smiled down at her. "Not at all. Employees and guests alike treasure their time with us. It's rare anyone screws this up. Unfortunately, when it does happen it must be dealt with swiftly.”

"I don't like the sound of this." It sounded barbaric at best and a little cloak and dagger at worst. Either way it made her uncomfortable.

"Trust me, Angel. In our world it's not that big of a deal."

And that was exactly the part that made her nervous. Inhisworld. A place she still wasn't sure about. What if she never learned to like it? What would he do with her then? How could a man like Gabe want a wife who couldn't embrace his lifestyle?
