“Hey you.” He pulled me into him and pecked my lips. “Ready to get this name change taken care of?”
“I don’t care if it’s a week, a month, a year, or a lifetime. I can’t wait to call you, my husband. I am going to be proud to carry your name.”
“Jesus, Belle. You’re so beautiful.” He lowered his head and kissed me.
“Come on lovebirds, let’s get you hitched.” Creed slapped Michael on the shoulder, and he chuckled against my lips.
“Let’s go get married.” He let go then took my hand. Creed climbed in first, then I squealed when Michael lifted me up to Creed who set me down and told me to take a seat. Michael liftedKayla up and Creed did the same before Michael hopped up and shut the doors.
“Why?” I pointed around so he knew I was asking about the armored truck. He knocked on the front wall to tell them up front we were ready, then took a seat next to me before he laced my fingers in his.
“First of all, it’s armored so it’s safe. It’s also not unusual for this truck to come and go from Creed’s Lake about this time of day. It’s not for any purpose other than making others think they have business here so we can sneak people in and out without too much curiosity. It’s also not unusual for this truck to go to the courthouse. We will be backing into a docking area, and you won’t be seen getting in and out.”

When Belle took off her coat and I saw that dress, my knees about gave out. “No fucking way.” I heard Creed whisper next to me, so I elbowed him.
Legs, and when I say legs, Belle had long toned legs that men only dreamed of, and that pencil dress fully outlined her body in a way I hadn’t seen before that day. I bit my bottom lip and tried to hold back from pulling her into me. Creed put his hand on my shoulder and leaned in closer to whisper. “Are you sure you need a spiritual marriage to hit that?”
“I need to do right by her, and if this is meant to be more, it’ll happen. I won’t force it.” I whispered back, but damn I hoped we knew sooner than later.
“Over a decade of friendship and today I see you in a different light. I just wish you would have told me, things would have been different.”
“Maybe I don’t want things to be different.” I whispered.
He spoke in a low growl. “I’m going to bury that fucking mountainside.”
“Not today, Creed. Today it’s about her.” I nodded my head toward the true honest to God angel that was about to change my life and take my name.
Five minutes later, I was holding both of her hands in front of the Clerk of Courts, and looking into her eyes. “Bellemy Theresa Ann Ashford, I accept you as you are, with all your imperfections, and will cherish the unique person you are.” I slipped the gold band Darren picked up for us onto her finger.
My sister handed Belle a matching gold band and she began slipping it onto my finger. “Michael Corey Axton, I accept you as you are, with all your imperfections, and will cherish the unique person you are.”
The clerk spoke up. “Now that you have joined yourselves in solemn matrimony, may you strive all your lives to meet this commitment with the same love and devotion that you now possess. With the authority vested in me by the state of Indiana, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss your bride.”
I pulled her into me and surprised her with a deep kiss and dipped her as my sister and friends clapped. I heard a sniffle and laughed against Belle’s lips.
“I’m sorry, it’s just been an emotional day.” Creed blew his nose.
“You’d think she knocked him up by the way he’s acting, not the other way around.” I whispered against her lips, and shelaughed. I was glad Wrenly was recording it. It may have been for proof, but it would still make a nice memory.
She squealed then laughed when I picked her up and carried her, which made me chuckle. Wrenly and Irons were in full tactical gear and led our way to the truck. They did a quick scan to make sure there was nobody watching and nothing foreign stuck to the truck before they opened the doors and did a quick look around on the inside. I lifted my bride up and Irons took her from me before I hopped up, then Creed handed me my sister and hopped inside as well. Irons hopped out and shut the doors. I sat too quickly for Belle to take a seat anywhere but my lap when I pulled her down.
I held her hand up to look at her ring. “I think this makes you my girlfriend wife.”
She giggled. “You’re silly.”
“I think they’re engaged.” Creed said.
Kayla laughed. “I don’t understand any of it, but it’s cute as hell.” Kayla acted like she was whispering to Creed but spoke loudly. “I think they’re in love and soon I’ll have lots of adorable little nieces and nephews running around.” She then looked at my wife. “Wait until he shaves that beard, and you see his dimples. You won’t be able to help yourself.”
Creed rolled his eyes. “They used to call us twins in the military.”
Kayla reached over and squeezed Creed’s cheek. “They were both so stinking adorable with all their muscles in their fatigues with their little guns.” She spoke to him like he was a baby, and he swatted her hand away.
Belle and I were both amused.
“It won’t be long now and there will be a baby for each of them to hold. They’re going to be so adorable.” Kayla was in an upbeat mood.
