“Another piece of advice,” I begin and his ears perk up. “Don’t mention our women like that. We don’t kiss and tell and if anyone was to hear we don’t expect them to either.”
“Right,” he says sheepishly. “Sorry about that.” He actually does look sorry.
“Just don’t next time,” I warn him.
“You have my word,” he promises me and I nod my head in return.
Grabbing everything again I begin to leave to head back to my angel when I hear him call out my name. Stopping in my tracks I turn to face him not hiding the irritation on my face. All I want is to get back to her and have her in my arms.
“Oak called,” he lets me know. My irritations fades slightly as he mentions his name.
“What did he have to say?”
“That he convinced Gracie Mae to stay here with her brother.”
I don’t know how he did it but thank fuck. That’s one less thing we have to worry about when shit hits the fan. No harm will come to either of them. Alice will be happy to hear it. And I’m sure she will like having a familiar face around here.
“But,” he says, and I curse under my breath because I knew it was too good to be true. From the first moment I saw Gracie Mae I knew she was a stubborn woman. A stubborn woman who will not let no man strong arm her. Being raised in Hollows Point makes you that way so I really can’t blame her. “She can only stay one week.”
One week?
That’s hardly any time at all. And I’m sure it’s going to take more than one week for Razor and The Crowned Devils MC to strike. Those type of men like to play with their victims. Draw out the torture long enough so they taste the desperation. They enjoy seeing their victims in pain whether that be physical or mental. Right now with the reward for Alice he’s playing a mental game of cat and mouse.
Unbeknownst to him I’m the lion who is going to rip his fucking throat out.
And I’m going to enjoy every second of it.
“Why?”
“Her brother can’t be out of school long.”
“I’m sure the school would allow a leave of absence for a family emergency.”
“They would if Gracie Mae had sole custody of him. She doesn’t,” he points out.
“You’re telling me she can’t forge her mother’s signature on a letter or fake her voice through the telephone?” I give a few examples that would work perfectly. Kids did that all the time when I was growing up. The school knew none the wiser or they just didn’t care. That should be the town slogan for Hollows Point. Welcome to Hollows Point, the town that doesn’t give a fuck.
He shrugs not really knowing what to say. “I’m sure if it was that easy she would’ve done it. You’ll have to ask her when she’s here.”
Yeah, there is definitely more than what Gracie Mae is saying. If she won’t tell me or Oak she will certainly tell Alice. And hopefully for the safety of her and Connor, Alice can try to talk her in to staying here as long as possible.
Christ, I know it’s not ideal and she does have a life back at Hollows Point but she won’t have one if they get their hands on her or Connor.
Too much is at fucking stake here.
And if I know that fucker Razor like I think I do I know he will use every tool in his arsenal to draw Alice out.
And he knows they would be perfect bait.
Now I may be becoming a better man because of her but I will not allow anyone, even Gracie Mae be the reason for Alice to go back to that bastard.
Blame it on my irrational fear of losing her again. I don’t give a fuck. I just won’t let anybody jeopardize her safety. Not when she’s my fucking world.
Without her I’m nothing.
And I can’t lose her again.
I just fucking can’t.
