Without even a moment of hesitation he replies, “You have yourself a deal.”
Anders takes my hand, encouraging me to sit on the bench. He silently scrolls through his phone with a cheeky smirk.
“So, for them to believe your alibi, I had to get a little techy.”
“Ok…” I raise an eyebrow at him; I have no idea where this is going.
“Long story short, I showed the detective some videos of us fucking.”
My jaw drops, and I scoff, “You did what?”
Anders uses two fingers to close my gaping mouth, releasing a hearty chuckle.
“Yep, he had the same expression, too.”
“I still don’t understand. We weren’t together on those nights.”
He grins proudly at me. “That’s right, but I changed the date and time of some other videos to match those instances, and the sucker bought it.”
“What the hell, are you a secret computer whiz?”
“No, of course not.” He nudges me with his shoulder and laces a hand in mine.
“Then how?”
“Well, you’re not the only one who knows how to use the dark web. I hired a guy to alter the footage.”
“Jesus Christ, so not only the detective, but some creep living in his mum’s basement has seen me get railed. Wonderful.”
Anders chuckles at that. “Yeah, sorry. But trust me, I picked the best videos.”
“Ah, well, I guess that makes it alright then.”
“A thank you would be nice.” He playfully glares at me, and I resist the urge to boop his cute nose.
“Thank you, sweetheart for saving my arse, again.”
“You’re welcome.” His expression softens, and the sweetest smile graces his lips. Damn, there’s that dimple.
“I read your note.”
“Ew, hope you burned it after.”
“No chance, it’s going on my wall.”
The apples of his cheeks pinken. I pull him closer by the back of his neck and take him in an indulgent kiss. At first, it’s hungry and animalistic—I wouldn’t expect any less from my little lion. Then it softens into something more meaningful.
We come up for air and gaze longingly at each other. My eyes track his soft features now that he’s not scowling all the time. I could burst with the love I harbour for this complicated man.
“I love you, baby. I’m always going to choose you. You know that, right?” Ander murmurs through hooded eyes. Butterflies rave in my stomach.
“Oh, sweetheart, of course, and you’llalwaysbe my first choice, too.”
His cheeks flame. I love how embarrassed he gets by all this soppy shit. “Anders, I love you.”
“I know you do…now, get on your knees.”
I huff a laugh, quickly moving to my knees like his words have me in a trance. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for this man; evidently, he’d risk it all for me, too.
