“It’s not her,” she says. “You would know it by now.”
Kaden looks behind me and I don’t have to question if it’s Athena. I can smell her. I can feel her in the core of my very being.
“Who said I wasn’t,” Athena replies.
Dahlia’s eyes go wide and I smile. Athena comes into view and she looks sexy as hell in her costume.
“I heard you were having fun,” I tell her.
Her eyes darken, full of lust. “I had to take care of something.” She laughs. “Someone.” She rolls her neck like she’s been working out and needs to loosen her muscles. She gorgeous and I my chest aches how beautiful she is.
“I love you,” I declare.
Kaden’s head snaps up looking between me and his mother.
“I would die for you,” she replies and then glances at Kaden and then back. “Go easy on him. He was trying to help and it worked.”
“He’s in trouble and he’s one drink away from being drunk.”
She arches a perfectly shaped brow.
My eyes dart to Dahlia. She can’t stop staring at Athena in disbelief when Athena walks toward her and leans down so that she is at eye level. “He’s not yours, Dahlia. He’s always been mine and I’ll kill whoever tries to come between us.” She kisses Dahlia on her red lips. “It’s okay, baby. Your mother was a bit confused too. How is she?”
“Good. She never stops talking about you.”
Of course, she loves me.” Athena looks at me. “Isn’t right, Draco.”
I grin, placing my top hat over my head. “Oh yeah.”
Nyx is Dahlia’s mother and is still in love with her. Always will be, but she’s mine.
“Oh, and I saw your brother. You need to tell him to with the masks. Rose will never fall for him if she can’t see his face.”
Something I’ve told him through the years but he’s shy when he’s around her.
“He’s shy.”
“He’s afraid she will reject him,” Kaden chimes in as he applies eyeliner to his eyelids.
I want to tell him his makeup is fucked up. His lines are crooked but serves him right to look messed up for throwing a party.
“She has a boyfriend,” Athena says with a smile. “He’s a total dick.”
“Not for long,” I say, “you know who how possessive Lazarus can get”
“Did you send him the other night at the club?” she asks.
“Yes,” I reply. “You think I’ll let another man touch you?”
“Have you ever?”
“Not in this lifetime or the next.”
“Where are they?” she asks.
She means the assholes I currently have tide up in the large shipping container out back.
“Waiting.”
“I’m coming,” Kaden says getting up.
“You’re staying here with Dahlia.”
“Why?” he asks.
He’s been drinking and I can tell he’s pissed off about something. We don’t have time. I grab the ax and hand it to Athena.
“It’s been a while,” she says.
“Not too long.”
