‘So, Leon,’ Cage said, with an unsubtle splash of intrigue in his voice.
‘Bleurgh!’ Sydney retorted, springing out of the ball pit and sprinting over to grab a juice box.
As the party progressed, Cassie was delighted to receive praise from friends and strangers alike. In fact, it went so well that the entire first print run sold out. That was seriously impressive and way beyond Cassie’s wildest dreams.
But there was more to come.
Waymore.
‘Daddy, Daddy!’ Cassie said as she rushed over to Kane. ‘Listen to this!’
Kane arched his eyebrow quizzically.
Leon, Cage, Katie, and Sydney listened intently too.
This sounded like it could be important.
‘I’ve just been speaking to some of the mainstream publishers,’ Cassie said, tripping over her words in sheer excitement. ‘They’re interested in taking the comic on. Like, publishing it with a commercial sized print run. I’d keep creative control too. They said they loved how I was bringing the whole Daddy and Little dynamic to people’s attention. Can you believe it?’
Cassie paused as she waited for Kane’s response.
Kane had a very serious look on his face.
But not for long.
‘You know… if it was anyone else…. maybe I wouldn’t believe it,’ Kane said. ‘But as it’s you, it sounds like exactly what would happen. You deserve this, kid. You’re a star.’
Cassie and Kane embraced.
To the sound of cheers and whoops from their friends, their embrace changed into a brief, but passionate kiss.
Cassie felt a moment of total bliss.
Kane looked deep into her bright blue eyes.
‘As I always say, you can’t hack happiness,’ Kane said, a big cheesy grin on his face. ‘Now, who’s up for some serious fun?’
With that, the gang ran over to the ball pit and threw themselves in with total abandon.
The first print edition of Cassie’s comic had sold out on day one. There would be many more editions to come. And plenty more Daddy and Little stories to tell too.
But one story that would never end would be that of Cassie and her Forever Daddy.
That tale was set to run and run for the rest of time.
