Epilogue
Three weeks later
The short veil hung below her eyes, stopping right before the bridge of her nose. In a trophy gold Vera Wang off-the-shoulder mermaid tulle gown, Vanessa stood at the altar, intense wonder in her eyes as she stared down her groom.
In the very same Armani ensemble she’d envisioned, the black and gold custom tuxedo fit the magnificence of his thick physique immaculately.
Tingles fell down her skin, and she exhaled as a blush rose into her cheeks.
“You’re so beautiful,” he murmured.
Dipping deeper into a darker shade of red, her cheeks flushed.
“And you’re supremely handsome, Mr. Davenport.”
A thunderous guffaw escaped him, sending a quiver sliding down her body.
“I love you,” he said, reaching to hold her hands tight. He bit down on his bottom full lip. “Thank you for believing in me. I will spend the rest of my life making sure you never regret it.”
Her heart fluttered, and somehow, magically, she believed him. It was interesting how she would’ve never thought a love as mysterious as theirs could be possible. But here they were.
“I know.”
His brows rose. “You do?”
“I do.”
He turned to the bishop. “You heard that right—she said, ‘I do.’ We’re done, right?”
Vanessa and the bishop laughed as her fiancé rubbed her hands.
“I promised to make it quick,” the bishop assured them.
And as they vowed to love each other for all time, he drew her into his arms, lifting the veil, the seriousness in his loving gaze vibrant.
“Forever,” he swore.
“Forever,” she confirmed.
Mouths searing, and breath snatching, the couple indulged in the flavor of their tongues, tying everlasting promises together for a lifetime.
However, theirs was not the only hearts brought together on that day. Behind the bride and groom, Drea, and Shawn eyed one another—their brewing romance set on a course for a happily-ever-after of their own.
