Dance has been going well. I was actually asked to be a choreographer in a few plays and I accepted. It helps that the girls can be there with me since all the rehearsals are at the studio. Kohen worked out a deal with Ryder- Krista’s husband- and he basically franchised another studio that we own.
I love that man.
Kohen is the perfect father and husband and I commend him for loving us the way he does. He always puts us first and goes above and beyond. He is the man of my dreams and I have finally come to terms with the fact that I do deserve this. Counseling has been a huge part of that, too.
Kohen and I wanted to make sure we were the healthiest and healed versions of ourselves before the girls got here. Healing isn’t linear, so we have our ups and downs but who doesn’t? We don’t strive for perfection. Life will never be perfect but it will always one hundred percent be worth it.

I carry our daughters to the cake table, one in each arm, and Alex takes Karina from me to put her in her bubble gum pink high chair. Courtesy of Cora, I’m sure. There are fifty shades of pink balloons tied to these highchairs and I’m almost afraid the girls will fly away.
“Do you think this is enough balloons?” I joke, teasing her. Cora scoffs, ignoring me as baby Levi is placed in his dad’s arms.
“Nah, bro, I think we need a few more,” Levi teases back.
“Keep it up,” she says, rolling her eyes.
“Awww, sunshine, I’m just joking. This is perfect for the girls,” he says.
I turn to look at Alex and she lights the candles on the cake, one for each girl. She pulls back and begins to count to three so everyone can join in and sing Happy Birthday. This moment is about our daughters, and I love them more than life itself, but everything around me blurs.
I hear the singing but it’s muted. All I see is her, my angel, the girl who saved me when she didn’t even know that that’s what she was doing.
Suddenly, I’m next to her. I rest my chin on her shoulder, nuzzling her neck. God, I love her. I’m obsessed with her and I don’t think that will ever change. I know everyone can see me but I don’t give a fuck. This moment is a core memory. Not only is it our daughters’ birthday but it’s also a celebration of Alex.
I inhale a deep breath, taking in her scent and letting it fill my lungs. “I love you, baby, and I am so proud of the person you are.” She looks over at me and I kiss her cheek. “I just needed to walk over here and celebrate you, and make sure you know that I would do this all again, my pretty, pretty poison.”
