She had no idea what to say. The tears welling up now weren’t of sadness, but of disbelief. Of happiness. He rendered her speechless.

“I’m not quite sure what my job is going to be yet, but Alpha Jericho assured me he could find me something to do. That was one concession. He wants me to earn my citizenship.” He leaned a little closer and lowered his voice. “Between you and me, I’m relieved not to do stupid paperwork anymore.”

“I-I can’t believe it.”

He rose and came to her side, kneeling on one knee. Thediner fell silent. “I devote my life to you, Circe Tolliver. From now on, where you go, I go.”

She cupped his face. “Is this real?”

He kissed her palm. “I’ve made so many mistakes in life. Please forgive me.”

“I can’t believe you did this for me,” she whispered, and kissed him on the lips. “I forgive you.”

“Please be my mate.”

“I will be your mate.”

He gathered her in his arms and hugged her tight. The patrons in the diner clapped, but Circe didn’t care. She was too busy kissing Miles.

Epilogue

Circe touched the bite mark on her neck for the ten-thousandth time, but she couldn’t help it. She and Miles had a formal mating ceremony a little over a month ago, and she still found it hard to believe he was here. With her. That he gave upeverythingfor her.

It made her love him even more.

Once she had cleaned up the classroom, she locked up and headed out. Strolling to her mate’s new gym. Turns out he was loaded. He might not have liked paperwork, but he was savvy with stock trading. Over the years, he had amassed a fortune, and admitted he had planned to launch an all-out search for her with the funds he squirreled away.

So, since they had reunited, he had used that money to open a gym. Much to the surprise of many, including himself, he had slipped easily into the role of a sentinel wolf. Proving himself a deadly warrior when a few feral coyotes had attacked a couple that was hiking. Miles heard the screams and immediately raced off to save them, successfully killing all three. Since then, he had taken over the role as a sentinel, and he took his protection duty seriously.

When she stepped into the gym, she saw a lot of people utilizing the treadmills, ellipticals, and the multifunctional weight benches. Miles was sparring with a man, with others watching, training them to be sentinels as well. He only had on shorts, leaving his chest bare, and she admired the tattoos decorating his pecs and shoulders. The art consisted of tribal wolves, and although he still had an aura of alpha power, he channeled it into his new rank.

As soon as he spotted her, however, he beckoned one of the guys to take his place. Immediately, she was engulfed in his strong muscled arms as he placed a kiss on her lips.

“How’s my beautiful mate?” he asked huskily.

“She is doing fantastic,” Circe murmured.

Then he knelt and kissed her still-as-yet flat tummy. “And how is my little pup?”

“The pup is fine.”

He stood and swept her up into his arms. “I love you, Circe Kenneally. You’re my whole life.”

He placed his hand over her belly and she covered it with hers.

Finally. Happy.
