“He provides companions for wealthy and powerful politicians who prefer underage girls. Tell Maddox if he wants us to do a grab-and-go with Nichols, Shadow will do it for free.”

Had Rachelle seen a powerful politician with the girl in the photo?

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

Cal’s gaze shifted to Rachelle. “Do you remember what street you were on when you saw the couple in the alley?”

“Avenida Juarez.”

“Jon, can you access street or security cams in that area?”

“If the cameras are active, yes. Rachelle, what time did you go to dinner?”

“Eight o’clock.”

“I’ll see what I can find. Might take a while.”

Eli smiled. “You don’t have anything to do for the next hour. Should be a breeze for a man who types faster than the speed of sound. Go to the next picture.”

They analyzed each photo. When the final one appeared on the screen, grim expressions settled on the faces of Cal’s teammates.

“We know that’s not you.” Cal squeezed Rachelle’s hand. “How do we prove it with this photo?”

“The girl has two tattoos, one on her ankle and one on the inside of her wrist. I don’t have any.”

“Could be explained as a temporary tattoo. Do you notice anything else?”

She shook her head.

Rafe pointed at the screen. “Zoom in on the man’s right shoulder blade. What is that?”

The view shifted to an enhanced view of the shoulder blade. “Tattoo.”

“Can you clean that up?” Cal demanded.

Jon’s fingers flew over the keyboard. Seconds later, a clearer view of the tattoo filled the screen.

Rachelle stared. “That’s a bird.”

Cal’s free hand fisted. “A falcon.”

“This man is the reason you have a price on your head, Rachelle,” Eli said. “You saw a heavy hitter with an underage girl in that alley.”

“I saw them for a second,” she protested. “I can’t identify him.”

“He thinks you did,” Jackson said. “Worse, he got a good look at you.”

She paled. “He recognized Amy and figured out who I was by association.”

Rafe frowned. “Anyone looking at this picture wouldn’t be able to tell the man is Clint Nichols. All we see is his back. Does Nichols have a falcon tattoo?”

“I’ll ask Maddox to send Shadow to grab him and find out,” Eli said. “Do the feds want Nichols?”

“Oh, yeah. He’s slippery, though. Every time we sent a team after him, Nichols was conveniently absent.”

“I’ll bet no one knew where he was, either,” Jon said.

Rafe’s lips curled. “How did you know?”
