However, why leave me? If they were still alive, or at least my brother. Why let me go through everything alone? The answer to that was he had to be dead. My brother would never leave me.

And still, that hope inside me kept me wondering.

Besides all the unanswered questions, there was something to be grateful for. The Alpha Board still hadn’t figured out Isaac was alive. Apparently, if you go inside the tomb of an Alpha or Luna, the moon goddess herself will put a curse on you. It made me wonder what she would do when we strolled inside hers.

I chuckled and shook my head. What has become of my life?

Finally, the car came to a stop, and we were in our new home for the next few days. I strolled behind Isaac like he always wanted. Keeping me out of harm’s way until they were sure there were no threats around.

It wasn’t the worst way; I had the best view—his fine ass. My lips curled, and my eyes remained shamelessly on it. That was until he stopped and glanced over his shoulder.

“You know the bond works both ways, right?” he teased, amusement filling his glaze, and Logan edged to the surface. The blue hue welcomed me.

I shrugged, edging closer. “You feel everything, right?” Eager to put it to the test.

He groaned, and that familiar warmth beneath my skin spread, trailing lower and then…

“Could you two please just stop!” William snapped, and I struggled to contain my laughter.

I brushed past Isaac, still eager to touch him, while William glared at us. Cock blocker.

After another hour of stolen glances with Isaac, they were done checking the town, and it was time for me to head out.

“You know what you need to get?” Isaac asked, keeping some distance between us. One I hated.

It made the doubt crawl back. I thought we were okay moments ago, and now I needed reassurance.

“Of course.” I smiled, inching closer. Needing his touch to tell me it was going to be okay between us.

And then the corner of his lip tilted while he gently brushed his thumb over my bottom lip. “I’m sorry, little bird.”

My brows knitted, knowing all too well he didn’t need to say he was sorry.

He leaned closer, and sparks ignited on my lips. All the doubt I had washed away with the simple kiss.

“Stop it, you two!” William shouted again, hating every time Isaac and I got close.

I chuckled, peeling myself away from Isaac, and grabbed the car keys, ready to head out.

The guys would shift and run around town while Laila would prepare the rooms.

And, like every time, I was the one who had to get the groceries. No one was looking for a simple human, and the others would draw unwanted attention because, according to them, there were werewolves everywhere. Spying, lurking, and sneaking around.

Today was different, though. Not only could I sense how the air around me changed, but this small town was also somehow familiar. I have been here before. It was on the tip of my tongue, but it didn’t matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t figure it out.

The hairs on the back of my neck rose. Someone has been watching me ever since I stepped inside the grocery store. I knew if they paid enough attention, they could smell Isaac on me because that man rubbed his scent on me like some weirdo. It wasn’t really Isaac doing it; it was Logan.

I flinched when a man I had never seen in my life jumped in front of me, his eyes scanning over my body, lingering on the unmarked skin on my neck.

“Never seen you here before,” he said, still not meeting my eyes.

“Same,” I mumbled, trying to move past him, but he wouldn’t let me. Fuck.

He grabbed my arm, tugging me closer. “You aren’t a rogue.” He inhaled deeply, catching my scent, and I cursed Logan for this.

“What do you want?” I sneered, Isaac’s anger coming through the bond in response to my annoyance. Even when he wasn’t near me, it almost felt like he was.

The man huffed, his eyes glimmered to the wolf beneath the surface, but I also saw something else, something I hadn’t seen before, as if he was more than a wolf.
