Sparrow clears his throat, breaking the tension. “Hate to change the subject, but don’t forget George is leaving in a few days. Kierra has insisted we throw him a party before he goes.”

“Fuck,” Viper groans, banging the gavel on the table, making us all laugh.

His woman is hell on heels, but he loves it.

With the weight off my shoulders, I hop on my bike and start home.

Making the fifteen-minute ride in ten, I pull into my drive and find Easy sitting out on my porch. “You could have gone inside.”

He shrugs. “Didn't want to spook her if she woke up.”

“Thanks, Easy. You can head out now,” I say, not waiting for a reply as I rush inside and go straight for the stairs.

I take them two at a time and approach our door quietly. When I push it open, there, lying in the same spot I left her, is the woman I’d give my life for.

Needing to feel her skin on mine, I strip down to my boxers and climb in behind her.

Carefully, I slip my arm around her waist and pull her close.

“You're safe now,” I whisper, even though I know she can't hear me.

With Oakland in my arms and the knowledge that Reynolds is no longer a threat, I close my eyes and drift off to sleep.

Halloween

“Happy Halloween!” I call out, hip-checking the door closed behind me as I make my way into the living room.

Thorn looks up from where he’s sprawled on the couch with our little fluffy dog curled up on his chest.

Oh, my heart, that’s the sweetest sight.

“Happy Halloween, baby,” he rasps, his voice rough with sleep.

Moving over to the couch, I lean down to give him a quick kiss. “Where are the girls?”

As if on cue, the two of them come barreling down the hallway.

“Is it time to get ready, yet?” Mila asks, the first one in the living room.

Morgan follows close behind, looking just as eager. “Can we put on our costumes now?”

I laugh, my head nodding. “Yeah, it's time.”

As if it were choreographed, they both turn on their heels and dart back to their room. Shaking my head, I follow behind them with Thorn calling out, “Don't forget the scary makeup!”

Like I'd forget.

That's the best part.

The next hour is a whirlwind of getting the girls dressed, their makeup just right, and making a few last-minute adjustments. After applying the coat of black lipstick, I stand back to get a look at my handiwork and a smile breaks out across my face.

Mila looks so good in her Wednesday costume. I braided her hair into two pigtail braids and applied dark, smokey makeup. Add that to her striped stockings that go perfectly with her gothic dress and the girl is good to go.

“Perfection!” I kiss my fingertips.
