“Well, you two at least need to talk. Sooner rather than later.” Just as I was about to hang up on him, I heard knocking at my door. Saved by the Door Dash.

Thank you, Jesus.

“Max, I’ve gotta go. My food is here.”

“Call me in the morning when you get up.” I rolled my eyes. God, he was bossy.

“Will do, Mr. Bossy.” Disconnecting the call, I hurried to the door.

“You’re right on time—” I trailed off after pulling open the door. The hairs on my arms stood on end at the sight of Crow standing on my doorstep. He looked unsure of himself, which wasn’t something I was used to seeing. His hands were shoved in his pockets, his Red Sox hat pulled low.

“Hi,” he rasped, lifting his head and hitting me with those intense slate eyes that make me feel weak in the knees.

“Hi.”

His eyes raked across my face, and his lips twitched. “Can we talk?”

“I’m sorry,” I blurted out. “I know I messed up and I don’t blame you for?—”

Crow reached out and placed a calloused hand over my mouth. “Stop.”

My body locked up tight. Crow was notorious for his temper and there was a reason he’d been compared to the Tasmanian devil. When the man got pissed, everything around him ended up destroyed. The man was a walking wrecking ball. “I get it. I think I know why you didn’t tell me.”

Grabbing onto his wrist, I pulled his hand away. “You do?”

“I’m not the guy anyone picks to be the father of their kid.” He blew out a breath.

I furrowed my brows. The hell?

“I was scared, but not for the reasons you’re thinking,” I shook my head. We really needed to sort shit out, but I didn’t want to do it on my porch. “Can you come in so we can talk?”

“Yeah.”

When I stepped back to let him in, I saw a vulnerability in his eyes that I’d never seen before. Crow was overly confident; him looking unsure felt wrong.

I sat down and motioned for him to do the same. Once he was seated, I decided it was time to put all my cards on the table. “You’re probably wondering what happened that day?”

He nodded his head.

With my eyes glued to the floor, I told him the truth. “I’ve always loved you, Nathan. Even when I was just a stupid little girl, chasing after you and Max. When I woke up next to you in Vegas, it was like my wildest dream had come true.” I looked up, offering him a watery smiley. “Then reality came rushing back in. You never would have taken me to your bed if you hadn’t been wasted.” I brushed the tears from my cheeks.

“I wouldn't have been able to handle you saying what we'd done was a mistake… So, I ran.” My hand went to my belly. “Then I found out I was pregnant and as scary as it was, I was happy that no matter what happened, we'd be connected for the rest of our lives.”

“Paisley,” he croaked, shaking his head.“You couldn’t be more wrong. I’ve loved you for a long fucking time, but you’re King’s baby sister. I mean, for fuck’s sake, you’remyfoster sister,” he growled.

“We may have grown up in the same house, Nathan, but you’re not my brother,” I snapped.

Crow’s eyes narrowed, dropped to my mouth, then his lips were on mine, his body leaning into mine until I was flat on my back.

“Please,” I moaned, my pregnancy hormones kicking in and taking over.

I needed more.

As if he could read my mind, his head tilted and his tongue skimmed across the seam of my lips, begging for entry and my mouth parted.

Oh, yes. That was very nice.

I parted my legs, and his hips settled between them. I was desperate to feel him against me.
