After announcing that, more and more people tuned into the stream. I was still hoping that the Challengers were going to wisen up and start playing, but no such luck.
When the stream was set to end, Emma turned and elbowed me in the ribs. “Ready to flex those NLA skills, coach?”
I laughed and brought my laptop to the desk and logged into NLA. “It’ll have to be a normal game, the game won’t let you play ranked duo with me.”
We queued and soon found ourselves in champion select. We picked my favorite bot lane combination and the match started.
It went smoothly enough at first, but it didn’t take long for my competitive nature toclash with hers.
“Why’d you go in there? We didn’t have vision,” I said, frustrated and pinged for her to move back.
She huffed. “Because you were too far back, we could’ve taken the trade if you’d turned around.”
We bickered back and forth, but it was mostly playful, although tinged with genuine frustration on both sides. Despite our squabbling, we managed to win the lane and began to snowball the game.
The chat was loving it.

I can’t decide if MnstrX is that rusty or if Oracle is just on a roll.
In the end, we won the game but the chat was divided over who had carried whom. I decided we had to settle it with a vote.
“Alright, chat,” I called out. “We’re putting it to a vote. Who carried that game: Oracle or me?”
I set up a poll in the chat and it ran for a few minutes. When the results came in, I won by a narrow margin of one percent.
“Looks like I still got it,” I said, winking at Emma.
She rolled her eyes, but there was a smile on her face. “Yeah, yeah. Enjoy it while it lasts.”
