She tipped her head, mulling over the idea. “I have to work tomorrow morning.”

“How early?” I asked, sliding one hand down to her waist, working my way around to her ass.

“Nine. I have the lunch shift tomorrow.”

“Perfect. We’ll have loads of time, then. I have to be at the store around the same time anyway.”

“I told you I don’t sleep over.”

I dipped my head down, kissing her neck, goosebumps rising on her flesh. “I thought maybe you’d be persuaded.”

“Liam...” she half-moaned into the dark.

“C’mon. I’ll even make you breakfast.”

“You drive a hard bargain, McCauliffe.” Her fingers feathered over my nape, her hand running through my hair.

I grinned into her neck, pleased with myself.

“I hope you don’t have high expectations for tonight,” she murmured.

“Nope. Just want to see you.” I pulled away slightly, locking my gaze on hers.

“Fine,” she said, sighing. “You win. I’ll need to grab my toothbrush and stuff from my apartment, though.”

“You want me to get your stuff for you?” I asked. “I could pop over, then come back to get you.”

“It’s okay, it’s no big deal. It’ll take me two minutes. I should be done by eleven.”

“Great. I promised I’d hang out with Quinn for a bit. So I’ll wait for you.”

“Okay.” She leaned forward, pressing her lips to mine. “I gotta run. I’m sure Steph is doing nothing.”

I moved my hands down to her hips, pulling her in close to my body for one second, two. We kissed hard and deep under the stars until she finally broke away, breathless.

“See ya.”

Macy levered open the door and sashayed back into the Rowdy, leaving me alone in the alley, my dick rock-freaking-hard. I waited a few seconds, then walked back the same direction I’d come. It was going to be a long two hours; at least I had Quinn to distract me.

LIAM

Ishot a few rounds of pool with Quinn and his buddy LeSean, listened to some terrible karaoke, and had one more drink. Finally, eleven p.m. rolled around, and the only people left in the bar were me, Steph, and Macy. Steph closed out her tabs, then only Macy and I remained.

“Alright, that’s it.” Macy locked the register, flipping the neon lights off behind the bar. “Let’s get out of here.”

She came around the bar and I looped my arm around her waist, bringing her body in close to mine. She fit perfectly beneath my arm, like she was custom-built to slide in there and nestle against me, all soft and warm. Glancing over, she gave me a smile, and my heart hammered hard in my chest. I’d been waiting for this moment all day. I dropped a kiss on top of her head as we left the bar, heading across the deserted street toward the apartment. We’d both walked, since it was right down the road.

“Do you usually walk home alone?” I asked, shooting her a worried look.

“Yes, I do. We’re in Peachtree Grove, Liam. It’s fine.”

“I don’t like it. I know it’s pretty safe here, but you really shouldn’t be walking alone this late at night.”

“I’m okay, Dad,” she said, her voice teasing. “Been doing it awhile now.”

“Still.”
