“How’s Gigi holding up?”

“She’s okay, fluttering around like an aggravated butterfly, fluffing his pillows and fussing over him. He’s already getting irritated, what with all the attention.”

“Pops is low-key. This can’t be his idea of a good time.”

“Definitely not. He’s told Gigi to go home and get some rest at least thirty-five times, but she’s having none of it. I hope she doesn’t end up in a bed right next to him.” Quinn pressed his lips together, flipping his blinker to merge onto the highway.

“Well, anything I can do to help, I’m here.” Folding my arms across my chest, I leaned back into the seat, fatigue suddenly setting in.

Quinn cut his eyes at me. “Be careful what you say—you could end up here longer than you want. Gigi’s freaking out about the store and how Pops isn’t going to be working there twenty-four-seven after this.”

“I can manage the store for right now; I worked lots of shifts back when I used to visit in the summer. Not sure exactly how long I can stay, though. I do have a massive work opportunity on the horizon and I’ll need to be back in California.”

“Well, nothing’s changed at the store, so there’s that,” Quinn said, brushing right over my work comment. “It’ll be just like riding a bike. Me and Ryder can rotate in, too. Although Ryder is pretty busy, with the job, the kid, and the fiancée.”

“Oh yeah, I heard he got engaged. To the relationship expert, right?”

Quinn chortled. “Yep, that’s the one.”

“Don’t you like her?” I glanced over at him.

“I do. It’s fun giving him a hard time, though. Hey, she’s from Cali. You know her?”

I snickered. “Quinn, there are roughly ten million people in Los Angeles alone. No, I don’t know her.”

“Just wondering.”

“L.A. is no Peachtree Grove.”

“You like it there?”

“It’s . . . different. Lot of things to do, good food, great weather.”

“Hot women . . .” Quinn added, a smirk on his lips.

“Some, sure. But it’s hard to get to know people. It seems like everyone has an agenda; people aren’t as genuine.”

“Probably because they know you’re rich.”

My cheeks burned at his comment. “I don’t know about all that.”

“C’mon, stop being modest. Gigi showed me the article about your dating app and I saw it went public. You’re like a bazillionaire.”

“Technically, yes,” I said, staring straight ahead and cracking my knuckles.

Quinn shook his head, laughing hard. “Still the same old Liam. Smart as hell, with a side of good humor.”

I grinned over at him. “High praise from you, cousin. You still working at the station?”

“Yep. Three days on, two days off.”

“Brutal.”

“It’s not that bad. Gives me some free time and I like that.”

“I heard you were dating Delaney Miller.”

“Damn. Word travels fast, even all the way across the country.”
