“Great, thanks. See you all tomorrow then.” Clearing my plate, I hustled out of there before there any more questions came my way.

Ten minutes later, I rang the bell at the bakery. I shuffled from foot to foot, trying to stay warm. If these temps continued, we could very well be looking at a white Christmas.

“Hey stranger,” Delaney said, answering the door. She looked damn sexy in jeans and a strappy black shirt. She’d look even better out of the jeans and shirt, but I supposed we might have to exchange a few words first.

“Hey. Happy Thanksgiving.”

She stepped aside, letting me into the darkened space, shutting and locking the door behind me. I circled her waist, pulling her into me, dropping kisses onto the soft skin of her neck.

“Mmmm, I like where this is headed,” she murmured into the shadows. “Do you want pie?”

“True confession,” I whispered into her ear. “I just finished eating pie with Pops and Gigi.”

She giggled, the light, melodious sound bouncing off the marble counters and echoing through the room.

“But it was as good a reason as any to get out of there and come see you.” My hands wandered from her hips down to her thighs, my thumb finding its way towards the zipper of her jeans. She moaned softly, pressing against me, before twisting around to face me.

“Are you saying you used my pie as a ruse to get out of your parent’s house?” She leaned back, her marine eyes narrowed.

“Yes, Ms. Miller, I admit that I did.”

“Well, Mr. McCauliffe, your secret’s safe with me. We shall never speak of it again.” She pressed a finger to my lips.

Stepping forward, I pulled her body tight against mine, kissing her hard. She responded, her mouth opening to me, her body melting into mine. Her lips were sweet, tasting of vanilla, as my tongue teased hers.

“Quinn?” she murmured.

“Yeah,” I semi-grunted, not wanting to lose momentum.

“I talked to my brothers.”

Freezing mid-kiss, I leaned back to look at her. “And?”

“And it was fine.” She blinked.

“Fine? What’s that mean?” My mind flashed over all the ways ‘fine’ could be interpreted. Was Josh pissed at me? Had I crossed a line and he just didn’t want to start shit with his sister on a holiday? Or was he really okay with the idea of us together?

“They’re cool with it. Not a big deal at all.”

“Huh. Good, I guess.”

“You guess?”

“Yeah. I mean, yes. I guess. Yeah.” I nodded, unsure of what I was even saying. It would have been better if Josh had texted or called me, but it was Thanksgiving, and he knew I was working. Probably didn’t want to bother me.

“Okay. So we’re good, right?” Delaney scrunched up her nose, waiting for my response.

“Yes. We’re good. Thanks for talking to them.”

“Sure.” She tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear.

“Think we could take this upstairs?” I asked, grabbing her ass as I leaned down and kissed her neck.

“Definitely.” She smiled at me.

Encouraged, I scooped her into my arms and carried her up to her apartment.
