“Relaxed yet?”

“Like you wouldn’t believe.” The simple kiss, with his mouth wet from me, was my reward for pushing my boundaries in ways I couldn’t have imagined a few weeks ago. “I only need one more thing.”

His hand lay on my breast, his finger circling my nipple. “What’s that, Sugarbear?”

I squeezed his cock again, now that he was close enough. “I need you to mount me.” I rolled over and got up on all fours. “And don’t hold back.”

Chapter 29

Kelly

I rolledover the next morning and blinked away the sleep to find Adam already awake, staring at me. I hadn’t been dreaming. Last night had really happened—the bad and the good.

The situation with my stolen purse and my poor house had been offset by the way Adam had opened up to me and then forced me to forget my inhibitions. This morning I was mad at myself for letting my experience with Danny Delaney set a boundary for me.

We still hadn’t gotten to the counter or the wall, but what Adam had given me was better—confidence to push myself.

He leaned over to place a playful kiss on my nose. “Morning, Sugarbear.”

I circled my hand behind his neck and pulled him back for the real thing. “Is that all I get?”

He pulled away. “Just a sec.” He went to the bathroom, and the sound of running water and a toothbrush started.

I didn’t understand his hesitation with a little morning mouth. Hell, he’d kissed me last night after having his mouth all over my lady parts. A smile curled my lips as I remembered the experience. It wasn’t going to be my last.

After returning from the sink, he landed on top of me, placing one arm on either side of my head, his lips mere inches from mine. “I wanted to brush first.”

I lifted up closer to him, his breath hot on me. “It doesn’t bother me.”

In a split second, his mouth claimed mine, and he rolled, pulling me over on top of him. His hand found my ass.

I gave him the kiss back with the same intensity. Memories of last night flooded through me, heating my core again as the connection with him sent tingles racing all the way to my toes.

He ended it too quickly, rolling me back off him. “We’ve gotta go, and I have to get your house fixed.” He rose and headed to the bathroom again.

Locating the clock on his side of the bed, the answer wasn’t good. It was much later than I usually woke. Mind-blowing sex was obviously a good sleep aid.

The day was not going to be a good one. And his reminder that I was only here because my house was a disaster zone threw a pall over the morning.

I put my hair up with the clip I’d brought last night and joined him in the shower without any of my previous trepidation. His gentle soaping of my body was just what I needed to lift my spirits. With a man like him beside me, there wasn’t anything I couldn’t tackle.

I was his Sugarbear. Make way: I am woman, hear me roar.

He was the first out to dry off.

I rinsed quickly and followed him out, doing my best to keep from getting my hair wet.

I located a suitable ensemble of work clothes from the garbage bags and joined him downstairs.

The microwave was running. The empty box on the counter was breakfast burritos. After the ding, he set one on a plate for each of us with a fork. “We have to be quick. Sorry I couldn’t make your over-easy eggs.” I cut into my burrito. “This is fine. It’s good to mix it up a little, right?”

He snorted. “Yeah, big step into the danger zone.”

I was tempted to fling a piece of burrito at him, but thought better of it. This was the first Tuesday in a long time without my over-easy eggs. Just thinking that made me seem like a cardboard cutout instead of a living, breathing person.

My phone came to life on the counter with Yolanda’s ringtone.

“I won’t be home for a while,” she told me, her voice cracking. “It’s a disaster.” She’d seemed pretty settled when she left for Bogdan’s last night, but that wasn’t the case this morning.
