Panic set in, and she felt the weight of it pressing down on her chest.

As if sensing her distress, Playboy leaned in and took her hand. “Hey, it’s okay. We’ll figure something out.”

Gabby’s mom gave her a reassuring smile. “Playboy’s right, sweetheart. Your father and I can help you. Or, if things don’t work out, you can always move back home for a bit while you sort things out and decide what it is you want to do.”

She shook her head, already knowing that she wasn’t going to move back home.

“Thank you, mom. But I want to stay here.”

Playboy’s face suddenly lit up. “I might have a solution. Can you give me a few minutes while I make a call?”

“Sure.”

He winked before stepping out of the room. Gabby watched him leave, a small flicker of hope igniting in her chest. She wondered what he was up to.

“Any idea what his idea could be?” Wendy asked, looking towards the door.

Gabby had no clue and shrugged her shoulders. “Your guess is as good as mine.”

A few minutes later, Playboy walked back into the room and stood beside her dad.

“So, I spoke with a really good friend of mine, and I have an offer for you that I think you’ll like. At least, I hope you will.”

She raised her eyebrow at him.

“Okay.”

“You know Potter from Alpha Team, right?”

“He’s the broody one with the sweet and sassy wife, right?”

Playboy laughed. “That would be Potter and his wife Tenley, yes.”

“Vaguely. I was introduced to him once. Why?”

“Before Potter met Tenley, he had a condo on the beach. When he and Tenley got married, he moved into her house but kept the condo. He lets people use it when they are in town. But I just spoke with him and explained your situation, and he offered you the condo for however long you need it.”

Gabby’s jaw dropped.

“Seriously?”

Playboy nodded. “Completely. He’s happy to help out.”

“What is the rent? I mean, I have some money saved up, but knowing that I may be out of a job soon…well, that just makes me a little nervous.”

Playboy grinned. “Rent free. All that you would be responsible for is the electricity and water bill. Everything else is covered.”

Her parents exchanged astonished looks. “That’s incredibly generous,” her mom said, and Gabby agreed.

“It’s almost too good to be true,” Gabby said, looking at Playboy.

“I told you before, our teams are like a family. We take care of each other.”

Gabby felt tears of gratitude welling up in her eyes. “I don’t know what to say. Thank you. And thank Potter for me. This means so much.”

Playboy smiled, squeezing her hand. “You’re welcome. I’ll give you his number so you can thank him yourself. He’s a great guy.”

Gabby’s dad finally spoke, his voice softer than usual. “This is a wonderful opportunity, Gabby. It’ll give you time to recover and figure things out without feeling rushed.”
