“Mac?” she whispered, her voice trembling.

He leaned down, his breath hot against her ear. “Surprised?”

???

Mac was glad he had decided to take the later flight back to New York that night rather than wait until morning.

When he had opened up the camera app to check on Jessie because he knew she was working late, he was barely able to keep his dick from exploding in his pants when he saw her practically naked, dancing around her office.

Her reaction to the cameras was everything he’d hoped for. She had a light edge in her voice, which made him grin. She was mad, but not really.

He could barely control himself as he unlocked and opened the door, then quietly locked it behind him.

When he saw her lying there, blindfolded, her hand moving over her body in response to his words, he had to take a moment to steady himself. She was a vision with her skin flushed, her chest rising and falling with each breath, and her lips parted as she moaned softly, completely unaware that he was in the room with her.

Fuck, he wanted to take her right then and there.

He quickly and quietly stripped off his clothes. Unable to wait any longer, he crossed the room and placed his large hand on her thigh.

He heard her gasp.

“Mac?” she whispered.

Leaning down and putting his mouth next to her ear, he whispered, “Surprised?”

Her hands instinctively reached out to touch him. But he caught her wrists and pinned them gently above her head.

“Mac…” she repeated his name. Her voice was full of need and something deeper, something that made his heart clench.

“I’m here,” He murmured, kissing her collarbone and then trailing up to her ear. “I’ve got you, sunshine.”

He let his hands roam over her body, feeling the tension melt away as she tried pressing her sinful body against his. Her breath hitched as he touched her, bringing her closer to the edge. He wanted to savor every second, to make this last, but the way she moved against him, the way she responded to his every touch, was driving him mad.

Just as she was about to climax again, he stopped, pulling back, making her whimper in frustration. Her hips bucked against him, seeking the release he was holding from her.

“Please,” she breathed. “Mac, please…”

He couldn’t hold back any longer. With a groan, he released her wrists, guiding her hands to his shoulders as he settled her on top of him. She didn’t need any more instruction. She knew exactly what he wanted, and she moved against him, taking him in.

He whispered her name, his voice filled with emotion as they found a rhythm together, their bodies moving in sync. It wasn’t just about the physical pleasure; it was about something deeper, something that had always been there between them but that they were only just beginning to understand fully.

In that moment, nothing else mattered. All that existed was her and him, and the way they fit together perfectly was as if they were two halves of the same whole.

As Jessie cried out his name as her body shook in his arms, Mac knew he’d never let her go. He couldn’t. She was his, and he was hers in every way that mattered.

Chapter Fourteen

Jessie sat across from her Uncle Cliff in the conference room, the tension in the air almost palpable. The meeting had been productive so far, but there was one lingering issue she couldn’t ignore. As president of the company, Cliff oversaw most of the financials, but Jessie had been going over them herself since returning. A couple of line items had caught her attention, and now was the time to bring it up.

“So, Uncle Cliff,” Jessie began, keeping her voice steady and professional,” I noticed something odd in the financials for the last quarter. There are a few payments, nearly fifty thousand dollars in total, spread across several months. I couldn’t trace exactly where the money went. Do you know what those expenses were for?”

Cliff’s expression shifted instantly. His posture stiffened, and he shot her a look that was far from pleasant. “Are you accusing me of something, Jessie?” he snapped, his voice sharp. “Because it sure sounds like you’re accusing me of stealing.”

Jessie was blinded, taken aback by his sudden defensiveness. That wasn’t what she was implying at all. “No, I’m not accusing you of anything,” she said calmly, holding her ground. “I’m just asking if you know where the money went. If you don’t, we need to get to the bottom of it. That’s all.”

Cliff scowled, his fingers tapping impatiently on the table. “I’ll look into it,” he muttered, his tone clipped. “But I don’t appreciate being questioned like this.”

Jessie gave him a tight, professional smile, refusing to let his attitude get under her skin. “Thank you. I’m sure it’s just an oversight, but it’s better to be safe and double-check.” Shemade a point of keeping her voice steady, acting as if she were a composed professional, even though her uncle’s reaction had unsettled her. In fact, he had been acting strange ever since she returned.
