“And if I didn’tneedto take care of her, I’d gladly let you have your way.”

Rukem leveled his insta-rage on his oblivious profile. “Take care of her?” Murder reflexes forced his hands into tight fists. “Do you really think we’ll allow you near her after what you’ve done?”

Ace’s gaze found his and locked on, his own fury front and center. “She. Is. Mine.”

Rukem ignored the buzz of his phone as he breathed through mounting kill urges, not moving his gaze a single inch from his. “Over my royal cock will you ever touch her again. Mutt.”

“Gentlemen,” Nidev announced while Rukem played through various bone breaking scenarios and their possible consequences as the King went through his dignified drivel. He tore his gaze from Ace’s cocky profile, eyeing all his bayou comrades, one by one. His gaze fell right into their Seer’s bright blue stare, hopingthe man saw what ate at him. At feeling his power seeking from across the ten-foot span, Rukem built a mind bridge leading right to him. The second the Seer stepped onto it, he enclosed him in a coffin then blinked the chamber across the bridge, condensing it as it came. When it sat before him as a small rectangular box, Rukem added a door and entered it, finding himself in a billowing faint blue air that moved right through him.

How are you doing this, son?the Seer asked in his mind.

How areyoudoing it?he asked back.

I don’t know how I do it.

And you don’t care to know, Rukem realized. Show me what you saw with the Syphon King.

I cannot.

Rukem watched his words become a locked door full of chains.

Show me, Rukem said, his words melting the chains from the door only to watch them return again.

I cannot. The emphasis removed the Seer’s mouth from his face and wrapped a chain around his mind.

Interesting. He literally could not. What stops you?

The same one who showed me.

Who?

Another King.

“Rukem?”

Rukem deconstructed everything with a blink, pulling out of the gaze of the Seer and turning it to Nidev. “Yes,” he answered.

“Yes to what part?”

“All of it. Yes, to understanding the need to meet in the Syphon King’s chamber and yes to the need for immediate action.”

The King eyed him and Rukem lowered his gaze before he could dig around and see everything that wasn’t his business.

“Before we do that, we’d like to understand more about these…coins you’ve mentioned,” their Bishop said.

Rukem realized one of the marsh brothers had his woman with him. He studied her while Nidev laid out the ancient prophecy regarding the coins. She was the extra gifted one they’d all wanted to get their hands on. Except him. Maggie. And her Mated Mutt was called…Spook. He regarded the dark, hard expression and flashing blue eyes, finding the name fitting.

“Which of your Kings saw the coin?” the Maggie girl asked.

“Rukem,” Nidev said, putting all eyes on him.

“I technically didn’t see it,” Rukem said. “Syphon did.”

“I believe the coins are already there within all the Kings,” their Seer said, moving all eyes to him now.

“How do you know this?” Nidev asked.

“I saw that they were.”
