But it’s taking its toll on Desiree, and I can’t allow that anymore—especially not as we close in on the final weeks of her pregnancy. I don’t want to miss a single moment with her.

“Positive,” I tell her, and she smiles at me as if she thinks I’m making the right choice.

I know I am.

I head toward the bar and greet my brothers—the three standing there, anyway. It still sounds so strange to me that there are two more in the mix. Spencer, Tanner, and Miller aren’t part of the Vegas Aces organization, but they’re family, and that’s enough to get them a golden ticket in.

I missed the greetings between my brothers and half-brothers in my detour to talk to Ellie, but I walk up to them just as I hear Tanner say to Grayson, “We heard Eddie’s here.”

Grayson nods across the room. “He’s over there. You know, the tall guy that looks like an older, out of shape, not as attractive version if you mixed the five of us together, not counting Linc since he favors Mom.”

The twins both look over at our dad. Of course they know who he is. They’re pro football players, and Eddie Nash is a legend.

“I need to sit,” Desiree says, walking up beside me with her hand on her stomach.

“Can someone order her a Sprite? And a whiskey for me, please,” I say to my brothers as I walk her over toward one of the tables nearby.

I sit with her, and Grayson delivers our drinks a minute later. “You doing okay?” he asks Des, and she nods.

“I’ll be doing better when the night is over.” She smiles, and Ava sneaks her some little miniature cake things that she baked for the event.

Grace sits with her a while, too, and it’s like Des just fits in with the family. She’s met my sisters-in-law a few times now, and each time they seem to grow closer. I’m pretty sure Grace and Des are on a regular texting basis now, and they share the San Diego link since Grace now lives there full time with my brother.

I don’t get to see what’s going on with Tanner and Miller, though I’m sure someone will fill me in later.

We eventually move to the table we’re assigned to and sit through most of the event. Desiree only gets up when she has to, and I stick by her side just in case she needs anything. She may be the main planner for the event, but the event is hosted by the chairpeople—including Lincoln, Erin, Jack and Luke Dalton, Travis Woods, and Ben Olson.

We dance a bit, and someone is always stopping by to sit with us, from my mom to my brothers to their wives to my teammates. I don’t even get to flirt with her about seeing what’s beneath the leaves this time because someone is always with us.

Her parents are across the room and spend most of their time with the general manager, but her mom swings by to check on her every now and again.

She’s doing amazingly well for being thirty-five weeks pregnant, and as the night draws to a close, we dance once more before we head up to our hotel room.

“Don’t go to San Diego,” I beg of her.

“Don’t go to your appearance tomorrow night,” she shoots back.

“I told Ellie to cancel it.”

Her head whips over to me. “You did?”

I nod, and her eyes soften.

She wanders over to the window, and I move in behind her, my cock hard as I anticipate what comes next.

If she’s up to it.

If not…it’ll be a long, cold shower, I guess.

I thrust my hips against her ass, and she moans as she pushes her ass back against me.

I pull her hair to one side and drag my lips along her neck.

“I’ve been waiting to get this body naked all night,” I murmur. I reach down and grip the fabric of her dress, and she shivers a little. “I need to see what’s beneath the leaves.”

She chuckles at my reference to a year ago, but then she moans again as I pepper kisses along her warm skin.

My brother was right about one thing: pregnancy sex is fucking incredible.
