His mouth, his tongue, his hands, his hard body under her fingers…

She cleared her throat and tried to calm her racing heart.

She wanted him. Bad.

“You stopped to pack before racing up here to rescue me from myself?” she asked, trying to joke her way out of her lusty thoughts.

“No. I have a bag of essentials in my trunk in case of workplace emergencies.” He sounded tense. Maybe he was thinking about what she was thinking about. “For instance, one day I was leaving class and I walked into a very vigorous game of ultimate frisbee that sent me into a fountain. I didn’t have time to go home, I still had two classes that day.”

She chuckled and he joined her. The tension broken, but only briefly.

They made it back to the bunkhouse. She flicked on the lights and crossed to the bed where she set the towels.

The bunkhouse was just a guesthouse. It was a small cabin with a queen bed, a small kitchenette, and a bathroom with a shower stall.

It was the lone bed that André was staring at.

His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed.

“Do you want to talk before or after showers?” she asked, ignoring the way her skin tingled with their close proximity.

He frowned and his gaze bounced between her and the bed.

“Yes, André. There’s one bed. I promise I won’t take advantage of you,” she said with a small smile.

“Now, that sounds less fun,” he countered in a low voice.

“Maybe if you ask me really nice,” she teased.

The look he gave her was positively sinful and she felt her temperature start to rise as sparks shot through her limbs.

Yeah, she probably shouldn’t tease him if she couldn’t handle the consequences.

“I’ll shower first,” he announced.

He brushed her arm as he reached for a towel and she held her breath.

It was either that or something far more embarrassing.

When he was locked in the bathroom and the water was on, she called Asa.

“Hey,” he greeted, unconcerned.

“Dude,” she said glancing at the door to the bathroom and keeping her voice low. She didn’t know what he could hear in there. “You sent him after me?”

“Uh, no. He came looking for you, and oh yeah, were you going to mention your big news at all?”

She growled. “He told you?”

“Yes, he did. But more importantly, you did not.”

Nikki rolled her eyes at his tone. “So, you two are besties?”

Asa snorted. “No. But we both love you and don’t want to see you do something stupid.”

“Whatever. This friendship is officially on hiatus,” she said haughtily.

“Bite me,” came Asa’s bored reply, then he hung up.
