Wait a minute! Wait a minute, I told myself. I was only doing this to sign them to my talent agency. Nothing else mattered but that end game, and I needed to get that process started ASAP.

“Where is everybody?” I asked, wondering why it seemed so quiet.

“Austin and Boone took the kids to a circus, of sorts. It’s a small traveling circus… no animals… just extreme performers who twirl from their hair thirty feet in the air or ride a motorcycle inside a giant ball. Stuff like that. The kids saw it six months ago when it toured here, and now it’s back. They love it.”

“Sounds dangerous,” I told him, trying to imagine what he just described.

“I think that’s the whole point.”

Kasey wore a light-blue, long-sleeved sweater, black jeans, and worn, brown cowboy boots. The sweater, although somewhat thick, still clung to his ripped chest, and his jeans hugged his body like they’d been custom made. That thick strawberry hair of his only added to his overall sexy look. The man, no matter how he tried to play his looks down, was stunning to look at and dangerous to be around.

“Why didn’t you go?” I asked, trying to get my mind out of the sex gutter.

“Somebody had to meet you.”

I didn’t know how to take that.

“And you pulled the short stick?”

He grinned, and my heart stopped. He had one of those smiles that lit up his entire face. “Not exactly. I volunteered. Let’s go inside. I’ll show you around.”

As soon as he opened the front door, my eyes watered at what I saw.

Having grown up with five siblings, then living in a dorm, Johnny’s small, messy apartment, then a motel with faded bronc riders printed on the brown wallpaper, nothing but a hard, plastic chair to sit in, what laid before me was more than I’d even imagined. Not that I imagined anything. I’d remembered them talking about a guest house, but I’d been too nervous to give it another thought.

“Wait. This is all mine?” I asked, trying to keep my emotions in check.

“Yeah. Sorry it’s so small, but it’s the original house that was on the land. The place dates back to the late 1800s, so we decided to try to keep as much of the original architecture as possible. Of course, everything’s been upgraded. No outhouses or anything like that. There’s even Wi-Fi and cable TV with every streaming service you can imagine.”

“It’s already more than I’d expected,” I told him while I tried to wrap my head around the beauty and comfort that laid before me.

The actual living room was somewhat blocked off from the entrance, but once you stepped inside, the full scope of the house came into view.

Deep, rich color dominated everything: reds, greens, blues, yellows, with a splash of deep brown and olive green to tie it all together. I felt as though I’d walked into someone’s happy place, and I never wanted to leave. The chairs and sofas looked plush and inviting, and the assortment of colorful throw rugs worked to bring out even more colors. The main doorways were arched, and the lighting fixtures had that retro look that fit right into the décor of this inviting house.

“We had it professionally decorated, but the team may have gone overboard with all the colors. I hope you don’t mind. We’ve had a few nannies who asked us to paint the walls white, and some who even used white sheets to cover up the colors of the furniture. We’d considered repainting, but as you know, none of our nannies, so far anyway, have lasted long enough for us to seriously consider a makeover. For now, you’ll have to live with all the color. I hope that’s okay?”

“You’re kidding, right?” I opened my arms so he could get a better look at my outfit.

I wore a bright-green coat over an orange, brown, and gold top, and gold-colored stretch jeans. My boots were the same color orange that was in my shirt. I owned boots in an assortment of colors, which, if someone were paying attention, might contradict my claim that I didn’t particularly like country music.

But so far, none of the guys seemed to make the correlation.

Kasey allowed his gaze to glide over my body, and I could tell he was taking in more than just the bright colors of my outfit. He seemed to like what he saw, just as I’d liked what I’d seen on him the other morning. We were building a kind of unstated mutual admiration.

“Okay, so color’s not a problem for you. Let me show you the rest of the house,” he said, after he gently cleared his throat and tried his best to control the little smirk tugging at his perfect lips.

Sex dripped from this man like a melting ice cream cone on a hot day. There was nothing to do to stop it but to keep lapping up the sweet cream, and despite my promise to myself not to mix business with pleasure, sex with Kasey had to be sexy sweet.

At the moment, my ego could sure use some of his sweet cream.

That was a dirty thought while on this innocuous tour of the house, but I couldn’t help myself. Austin had whet my appetite for sex, and despite my having ruined what would’ve surely been a moment to remember, whenever I was around any of these three seriously hot men, keeping my mind away from sex seemed almost impossible.

Still, I told myself this was day one. I should at least try to get through it without making a total fool of yourself.

With that idea swirling around in my head, I followed him through the house, as he gave me a brief tour. The kitchen was small but completely functional with a nice-size island, with a butcherblock top and shelves along three sides. There were even two comfy-looking barstools with bright-red cushy seats pushed up next to it. The kitchen itself was mostly white, but for a few red and black splashes of color from small appliances and tiles that sported a couple of rows of red and black mixed in with all the white.

“This is nice,” I told him.
