More squealing as I leapt into his arms, and he held me so tight, I thought he might smother me.

“What’s going on?” Josh asked as he rushed into the room, looking handsome as ever in a dark-green shirt, steel-gray dress pants, and black shoes. “Is everything okay? What’s all the yelling about?”

“What the hell, Connie?” Luke said as he slammed into the room as well, just moments after Josh. He wore a thick robe and had a towel dangling from his neck. Obviously, he was just getting out of the shower. “I about had a heart attack. I thought something was wrong.”

“Nothing’s wrong. Everything’s right,” Rascal said.

“What is it then?” Josh asked. “You know I hate this kind of thing. Spit it out so we can be happy as well.”

“Guts and Glitteris number one on the country charts in the US,” I said. “But there’s more… as if we need more than that… but Rascal said there’s more.”

“Are you okay, Connie?” Luke asked. “Your eyes…”

“I didn’t finish putting on my makeup,” I told him.

“Huh. That’s a crazy difference.”

“Can we please get back to the Marcia news?” Josh quipped.

“Marcia called to tell us the nominations have gone out for the CMA awards and…” He paused.

“And what? What?” I asked.

“Connie and I have been nominated for best song forGuts and Glitter… and… it’s nominated for best single of the entire fucking year!”

His words echoed through the large bathroom and bounced around in my head like a loose tennis ball, causing all sorts of havoc. I could hardly believe it!

We all cheered, and they circled around me to hold me up.

“But the best news is that Connie has been nominated for best new artist, and we’re up for best new band!”

“Holy fucking shit!!!” I said as I grabbed onto each of them, then danced around, and ran out of the bathroom. I jumped on the bed and kept right on jumping. I used to jump on the bed when I was a kid whenever I was happy, and right now, I wasn’t happy, I was ecstatic.

“Did you plan this party knowing we would have something big to celebrate?” Luke asked.

“No, but damn if it didn’t turn out that way,” I said, still jumping and twirling.

The landline rang next to the bed, and I stopped to pick it up.

“It’s Mrs. N,” I told the guys. “Does she know yet?”

“Not yet,” Rascal said. “I wanted to tell you first.”

“Oh, Mrs. N,” I said as soon as I picked up.

“Your guests are beginning to arrive,” she said.

“Okay, but we have news. Crazy good news!” I told her, trying to catch my breath.

“Whatever it is can wait,” she said. “Everyone seems to be arriving at once. Please come on out and bring yourhusbandswith you.”

“My what?”

“You heard me,” she said, then disconnected.

I hung up and gazed over at the guys. “Mrs. N just referred to you… to all three of you… as my husbands. And… our guests are arriving… they’re coming. People are actually coming to my… our party… and I’m still in my underwear.”

“Your husbands? Wow! We’ve come a long way for Sweet Whiskey,” Josh said. “What a day.”
