His words bit into me and chewed at a part of my heart. I wanted to argue and show my disappointment, but instead I hid my feelings. I stuffed them down and dug a hole inside of me.

I shook off my unwanted feelings and playfully pouted at him. “It would really help me fall asleep after the nightmare I had.”

He let out a deep sigh and finally looked at me. The lust that was once there was now gone. Replaced with no emotion and he was unreadable. Cold, dark and distant.

He nodded his head and opened the balcony door. “Okay, but I have one rule.”

I smirked and raised my eyebrow. “And what’s that?”

“No cuddling.” He answered firmly.

I walked up to him like I had won the battle and pecked his lips. “Okay, daddy.”

He growled and smacked my ass. “And stop calling me that, young lady.”

I bit my lip to conceal my squeal and smirked wildly as I walked back inside his presidential suite. My legs glided me back to the bed with ease and I felt like an enormous weight lifted off of me.

Sex with Daxon Stark was beyond good. It was mind blowing. He had rocked my world in a way no one ever had. But this had to be a one-time drunken mistake.

Intimacy with Dylan’s father was never on my radar. He was supposed to be my enemy and my worst nightmare. But he had turned into the most fabulous sex come true.

If I wasn’t plastered out of my mind, this would’ve never happened. I wouldn’t have fallen into his trap and gave myself to him. I never would’ve had sex with my fiancé’s father.

Or would I?

I laid down on the bed and a million unanswered questions swirled through my mind. The bed moved as Daxon laid down beside me and I looked over at him. He wouldn’t look at me and stared straight up at the ceiling. Somehow, he had gotten his sweatpants back on while I was lost in my own thoughts.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes to the silence of the room. The faint sound of waves crashing in the ocean and our breathing mingled together. I wished I could lay my head against his chest and hear his heartbeat. The one thing that made him alive and not this cold, distant man beside me.

Daxon Stark had let me in, but only briefly, and it was the best moment of my life. He gave me his world and one night to forget it all. But now it was time to get back to reality.

Suddenly, I felt a warmth against my hand. A brief, tender touch that sent warm tingles through me. His hand closest to mine gently brushed my fingers, and I took a chance.

I wrapped my finger through his.

He didn’t flinch or pull away. Instead, he squeezed my hand and a small smile touched my face. He wouldn’t cuddle, but holding my hand would do.

I listened to his steady breaths as I closed my eyes and felt connected to him. He may not hold me and love me, but he comforted me. And that was more than enough for right now.

Daxon Stark had a soft spot for me, after all.
