I glanced over my shoulder to see them coming down the aisle. There was still no sign of Jimmy though.

“It’s okay,” I said, pulling my hand away from Amber’s. “We’re just chatting. Let’s talk about the bus. Tell me how you get pissed off with the state of the bathroom.”

She gave me a quick nod. “There are always bloody beard shavings in the sink, and it really annoys me. And when Terry says no solids, I think he means no solids.”

I couldn’t help laughing because it was clear she’d gone in after Joey the morning we’d arrived in Amsterdam. Terry had almost thrown him off the bus on the ring road into the city. Amber laughed with me and shook her head.

“It was disgusting. I thought he ate healthily.”

“You should have smelled them when he didn’t eat vegetables. Believe it or not, they were worse.”

At that moment, Hugo reached us with Brandon following behind him.

“Sorry, mate,” I said, and stood up to let him get past.

“No problem.” He looked between me and Amber, but she’d angled her legs in the opposite direction from mine. “Everything okay?”

“Yeah, Amber just had a few complaints about the bus.” I gave him my, ‘now fuck off’ smile, but he wouldn’t have recognised it. I still hadn’t forgiven any of them for taking Jimmy’s side over the divorce.

Maybe he had seen my smile before because he sat down and got his phone out. As for Brandon, he didn’t even acknowledge me. The little twats certainly hadn’t given themselves a chance of any favours from us once the tour ended.

“I’ll let Terry know your complaints,” I said loudly. “I’d better get back to my seat.” The director was back on stage counting the presenters back in. When I stood up, one of the floor assistants waved at me to sit back down. There was still no sign of Jimmy returning, so I dropped back into my seat. “Looks like you’ve got me until the next break.”

Amber’s eyes went wide I leaned forward to hide us and ran a finger up her leg. She squeaked when I edged it under the hem of her skirt and when I winked her tits heaved, pushing her cleavage up.

“Okay?” I asked in all innocence.

“Hm hmm.” Biting down on her lip, she looked straight ahead at the stage while I wondered what else I could get away with in the dark.

CHAPTER38

AMBER

The awards had finished and so had my torture at having to sit next to Jimmy. Once he came back to his seat, he sniffed all the way through the rest of the show. The sniffing and rubbing of his nose was irritating and just another reminder of how he was throwing his life and career away.

Once we were finally allowed out of our seats, I told him I was going to grab a lift with the Warrior Creek boys back to the hotel. I said boys when it was actually only Ronnie. Joey, Beau and Elliot were going out to eat but he didn’t need to know that.

The line to the ladies was really long and if I hadn’t been desperate, I’d have given up.

“There is another one on the next level,” a woman in a black uniform said to a group of us who were queuing up outside the actual bathroom.

Most of the women were wearing sky high heels and didn’t seem to fancy it, but I had a sexy rock star waiting for me.

“Where is it?” I asked.

“Up the stairs, first landing.”

I walked quickly, almost a run, towards the marble stairs and hoped I’d make it. Thankfully I did, and sighed with relief as I sat on the toilet that I hadn’t left it any longer. Once I’d washed my hands, I checked out my lipstick and happy it was still looking good, I left the bathroom that no one else had bothered with.

Pushing through the door, I was grinning as I thought about the night ahead. What had started out as a nightmare evening was going to end up being amazing. I was sure of it, until I was almost ploughed over by Jimmy who was rushing down the flight of stairs from the floor above.

“Fucking hell,” he snapped. “Watch where you’re going.”

“You ran into me.”

“As usual, everyone else is to blame. You’re unhappy, it’s my fault, you ran into me, it’s my fault.” He shook his head and looked at me with an expression of disgust. At one time it would have made me wither and fold in on myself, but looking at him with his pale, sweaty skin, marred with blotches and breakouts, I stood up tall.

“Can you get out of my way, please? I have people waiting for me.”
