I shrugged as I pulled her up next to me at the door into our apartments.

“Blossom, hold your thumb here.”

She did as I asked. I could still see how she was trying to catch her breath, or maybe it was to calm down her body.

“But how would this?—”

She stopped and looked as the light into the apartments turned green.

“You really underestimate us, don’t you, blossom?”

I nudged her as I pushed open the door.

“Zeid stopped by your apartment for some of your clothes and a few fingerprints. Lucky for him, you aren’t good at stealth.”

She was still walking with me before she turned on me.

“Stealth? It was my apartment. Why would I need to care about not leaving fingerprints? I work on crime scenes. I’m not stupid. I could get in and out if I wanted to.”

Every step I took towards her, she took one back, with or without knowing, until her ass hit the pool table.

“You’re cute, blossom, when you’re all mad. No one said you couldn’t. But for now? It was beneficial. You can come and go as you please now.”

I held up the keys to her car.

“This key here needs to accompany you to any of the external doors.”

The way her eyes glistened worried me.

“What did I do now?”

I watched her throat tighten as she swallowed.

“No-nothing. Just. I love you, you know that?”

Those words did something to me. There was no breathing in, no breathing out. I had always known that she was my end, but hearing it?

“Yeah.”

I probably should have said a lot of shit, but that was all I had. I reached for her and hooked my hands around her legs, tossing her over my shoulder heading for my private apartment.

“Cas, where are you taking me?”

Her ass was in the air and so fucking close to my face that I couldn’t stop the urge to bite the skin of her ass cheek.

“Ouch, asshole.”

I put her down at the top of the stairs.

“You like it, don’t lie.”

She didn’t deny shit, just gave me those bedroom eyes that had me hard already.

“We need to talk about the detective and that PI, but maybe first, why do I have a key, Cas?”

Picking her up around the waist, I backed her into the door as I unlocked it.

“The fight. I might have fucked up. But I don’t regret it. You’ll have a target on your back because of me. So you’re moving in.”
