Ford:DAD

Maverick:So anyway, tomorrow at the stadium at seven o’clock. Don’t be late! I can’t wait to see everyone. It feels like it’s been too long.

Saint:It has. I’m sad I’m going to miss it.

Seth:I will FaceTime you, so it feels like you’re there with us. And then the next time you visit, we’ll go skating. Or you can skate while I watch.

Ezra:I love that idea.

Saint:Aw...

Wyatt:That’s sweet, angel.

Noel:Very.

Seth:What can I say? I’m a sweet person.

Leo:This is going to be so much fun.

Blake:I have to agree. Tommy tried to teach me how to skate once, and it didn’t end too well, but it’ll be cool to hang out with everyone.

Matthias:It’s been forever.

Parker:This is going to be awkward.

Maverick:No, boo, it’s going to be great. You’ll see.

Parker:Sure. I guess.

Ford:Guess I better find my winter coat.

Felix:Me, too.

Maverick:Boys, I put them up in the attic. I’ll make sure they’re ready in time for tomorrow night. I’ll see everyone then. Don’t be late.

Chapter Forty-Seven

Andy

I watched as Leo hooked his arm through Parker’s, their heads pressed together as they giggled and whispered to one another. Parker had shown up at our house a couple of hours before we had to be at the stadium, trembling and begging Leo to help them get ready for tonight. Apparently, Parker had never been on a date before. Even though this wasn’t an official date, they wanted to make a good impression on Lucas and my family. But mostly Lucas. And it was amazing to watch Leo as he worked his magic, the makeup he gently decorated over Parker’s face before Leo helped them get dressed.

“Hon, don’t get lost.” Leo beamed at me over his shoulder, reaching back with his free hand and wiggling his fingers at me.

I smiled as I hurried to catch up with them. I grabbed Leo’s hand and squeezed lightly. “Sorry, Ricky, I just wanted to give you both some space.”

“You two are the most adorable couple.” Parker flashed me a smile.

Leo giggled and tugged me closer while leaning into his new friend. “Thanks, boo, but I think that award goes to Maverick and Jackson.” He jutted his chin toward where my two dads were standing. “I mean, look at them.”

“They are pretty adorable,” Parker murmured as Dad leaned up onto his toes and pressed his mouth to Pop’s.

Leo sighed softly. “And they’re the sweetest, too.”

At that exact moment, Dad caught sight of us and rushed over to where we were standing. He grabbed Parker’s hand and beamed up at them happily. “We’re so happy to have you, boo. I hope you don’t mind if I steal you for a few minutes.” Dadwinked at me, then pulled them away. Parker shot a nervous glance at Leo as Dad led him closer to the rink.

“Is it me, or does Parker look scared out of their mind?” I hooked my arm around Leo’s waist.

Leo lifted his left shoulder in a half shrug. “A little, but Parker’s kind of shy. They’re going to realize that he shouldn’t be worried about Dad. All he wants to do is make everyone feel loved and welcome.” He leaned his head against my arm. “Want to help me put my skates on?”
