But this thing with Zia wasn’t love, but it came close enough that he wouldn’t ask for anything else.

His phone buzzed on the nightstand, and she spun around in her sleep, facing the window.

Lev seized the opportunity to grab his phone from the nightstand. A message from Konstantin lit up his screen. It was a picture of a man sitting in one of his clubs.

Another message followed it. Lev squinted as he read the text. That is the asshole ex, Chief. Do you want me to bring him to you?

Leftover rage from the day Zia was attacked filled him. He didn’t hesitate to text back.Keep him entertained, and I’ll take care of him myself.

Okay, Chief. I’ll offer the asshole free drinks and keep him here.

Lev called the head of his security team, Ilya. It rang once before the man answered. “Get the car and three bodyguards ready. We’re going to have fun.”

He could feel Ilya’s face stretch with a smile. “Yes, sir. What car?”

“The red Lamborghini,” he answered.

“We’ll be downstairs in five minutes,” Ilya replied.

Lev hung up and, placing his phone back on the nightstand, he stood to his feet. He walked to the closet and put on one of his black suits, pairing it with the wristwatch Zia gifted him.

Zia was still asleep when he walked back to the bedroom. He leaned down to kiss the top of her head and cover her with the blanket before he turned around and left the room.

Ilya and the other bodyguards were at the entrance when he stepped outside the foyer. Three cars were parked outside, including the red Lamborghini he loved to drive when he was going out alone.

He opened his hand. “Key?”

Ilya handed him the key. “We’ll be right behind you, sir.”

“Keep a distance. I’m out for a hunt, and the last thing I want is my prey noticing I am not a regular guy,” Lev said as he took the key from Ilya.

Ilya looked him up and down, then he smiled and shook his head as if he wanted to say something but was holding back.

Not liking that look, Lev narrowed his eyes. “Is there something you want to say to me?”

“Well…” Ilya scratched the back of his head. “It’s just… you don’t exactly look like a regular guy. A regular guy wouldn’t go to a club at almost midnight dressed in an expensive suit.”

“Well,” Lev returned with sarcasm. “This regular guy does. Get out of my way.”

Ilya moved to the side, making way for Lev to walk to his car and get inside. He shot a glare at Ilya before closing the car door and starting the engine. Through the rearview mirror, he saw the other guys split into their own cars. And then he drove off.

Moments later, he pulled to a curb in front of the club, turned off the car engine, and opened the door. Music from inside the club wafted outside, disrupting the silent peace he’d been enjoying moments earlier.

The other cars parked behind him. All of the men stepped out of their cars, trying their best but ultimately failing to look casual, including Ilya.

He chuckled to himself. “So much for looking casual,”

Sliding out of his Lamborghini and banging the door shut, he sauntered inside the club, silently cursing at the atrocious neon lights flickering in the background.

Out of all the clubs he managed, this one was the worse. It was the oldest, smallest, and the most cramped one. There wasbarely any space for him as he forced his way through a sea of sweaty and drunk people dancing to the music blasting from the speakers.

His annoyance flared when he spotted the man in the picture Konstantin had sent him. He was laughing at whatever it was Konstantin was saying to him and drinking, oblivious to the fact that the big man sitting next to him was far from a friend. Oblivious to the fact that watching him from a few feet away.

Konstantin was the first to notice his presence. He turned around and waved to him. “Over here!”

The asshole of an ex turned around too. Lev didn’t miss the curiosity in his eyes as they met his.

Lev strolled to the front bar. He grabbed a seat next to the ex, putting the ex between himself and Konstantin.
