“I think so, but not for at least four or five years. What about you?”

“Yes. My genes are too good to not reproduce.”

I snort. “You’re a dork.”

He smiles. “How did you know I was kidding?”

“I was just hoping you were.”

He finishes his ice cream while I’m still eating my cone. I take a final bite and hand the rest over to him.

“You don’t want this?”

“No. I’m all set.”

“Thanks.” He hands me a napkin and I wipe a sticky drip from my finger. I watch as he crunches away on the cone, and I feel a deep sense of contentment I haven’t felt before. He notices me watching him. “What?” he asks.

“I was just thinking that for the first time in my life, I have everything I could want. I love my house, my new job is great, and I’ve got a boyfriend—it feels so surreal to call you that.”

“I’m not going anywhere. You have time to get used to it.”

“I’m glad you suggested this. It’s nice being out in public with you. And as a bonus, no one has recognized you.”

“I like being out with you too. I get to show you off.” He wraps his arm around me, pulling me into his side. “We should head back soon. We both have to work in the morning.”

I sigh. “Yeah, you’re right. How about five more minutes? I’m not ready for this feeling to end.”

CHAPTER 20

ROGAN

“Where are we sleeping tonight?” she asks, sauntering into the kitchen, wearing a tank top and a pair of Silverbacks boxers.

I let out a wolf whistle, letting her know how sexy I think she is. Her pebbled nipples poke through the white material, making my mouth water.

“In the big bed. I put the air mattress away.”

“I get to see where the magic happens,” she jokes.

“The only magic that’s happened in that bed is between me and my hand.”

“How is that possible?”

“I’ve never brought anyone home. This is my space.”

“And yet, here I am.”

Grasping her wrist, I tug her into my arms. “I think we’ve already established you’re special. I’ve never felt this way about anyone before. As far as I’m concerned, you can move in tomorrow if you’d like.”

She reaches up, cupping my cheek in one of her hands. “That’s sweet of you to say, but that would be crazy. I think we both need our own spaces. I want to complement your life, not take it over.”

“Would you like something to drink before we go to bed?” I ask.

“No, thanks. I just brushed my teeth.”

“You can get in bed and I’ll meet you there in a few minutes.” I press a kiss to the top of her head. She spins around to walk away. I slap her ass and it makes a satisfying sound.

“Ouch,” she cries out, glaring at me.
