I laughed at that, a tear slipping free as well. “I thought you suddenly regretted it.”

He pulled out of me and sat on the sofa, hauling me onto his lap. It was the most awkward but also sweet thing to be cradled naked in his arms like this. He nudged my chin up till my gaze met his.

“I’d never regret this. Or you.” He shook his head adamantly. “Not ever.” He wiped the one lone tear away with his thumb. “You okay?”

“Better than I’ve ever been,” I admitted. “And I’m on the pill. We’re safe.”

He cradled me closer, and I wrapped my arms around his neck, my body pressed into his wide, warm chest.

“Anna, I’m not going anywhere. If you got pregnant, that would just speed up our timeline.” He paused then added hesitantly. “If that’s what you wanted.”

My stomach dropped. “Our timeline?”

He brushed his lips against mine. “I’m all in, pretty girl.” Another light sweep of warm lips. “Unless you kick me to the curb. And even then, you’ll have a hard time getting rid of me.”

I pressed a soft kiss to his mouth. “I don’t want to get rid of you. I want you to stay.” I gulped against the fear I was feeling.

Rather than being shocked, he simply smiled, pressed one more quick kiss to my lips, and stood with me still in his arms. “Let’s go to my bedroom. I’m not done with you yet.”

“I can’t believe this turn of events from last week, but I’m not going to argue since you somehow got some sense knocked into you.”

“You knocked some sense into me.” He grinned down at me as he carried me down the hallway.

“Me?”

“You told me last night you were in love with me.”

“What?!” I didnotremember that. “I didn’t.”

“You did.” He grinned wider as he tossed me on the bed then crushed his body on top of mine. “And don’t try to take it back. You also told me that you tended to speak more honestly when you were drunk.”

“I’m not trying to take it back,” I said to his chin, suddenly shy and unsure.

“Hey.” He lifted my chin again to look at him. “I love you, Anna.Somuch.”

Then he kissed me like he hadn’t just rocked my whole world. It started light and sweet, but when I teased my tongue inside his mouth, the kiss turned hotter. I opened my legs till he was cradled between and where he was growing hard against my hip.

When he lifted up and looked over at his nightstand, I gripped his shoulders and hauled him back down. “Don’t worry about the condoms.”

I reached between us and gripped his hard dick. He hissed in a breath, pumping into my hand. Then I lined him up, and he rocked into me. We sank together on a mutual, deep groan.

“You’re definitely trying to kill me.” He hooked his arm under one of my knees and spread me wide, stroking in slow and deep. “I’m never going to be able to keep my hands off of you now.”

“Who said you have to?”

When I saw his brow purse into a frown, no doubt thinking of Jonah, I clawed my nails down his back, bringing his focus back to me. “Give me more, Reed.”

So he did, angling in a way that dragged over my clit just right. I tilted my head back and let go, let the man I loved bring us both to complete and total bliss. We could worry about all the secrets tomorrow.

Chapter Nine

~REED~

I realizedI was uncharacteristically smiling to myself as I jogged across Main Street toward Anna’s studio. Her car was in the lot, so I knew she was already here. I’d texted her thirty minutes ago to meet me because I had a surprise.

After I’d confessed to Hale that Anna and I were, in fact, dating, even though we had no immediate plans to tell her family, Hale had decided to help me gain some boyfriend points by finishing her studio in record time.

We’d finished putting up the final mirrors and the dance bar along the wall by lunchtime today. I owed Hale big time. And who knew he was such a romantic?
