“Well, usually there’s at least an argument or some drama with your idiot brothers to keep me entertained.”
“Today was pretty chill. Jarret lectured me for like twenty minutes for being seven minutes late to work. Idiot just wasted even more time.”
“Why were you seven minutes late?”
“Because someone’s been keeping me up late, Lemon. I wonder who that is.”
She lets out a sigh. “Sorry. Maybe we should hang up?”
“You hear me say I wanted to hang up? That’s the last thing I want. How was your day, babe?”
“Just the usual. Did some flower and product deliveries to my regulars. Walked the Carlsson’s dog. And checked on the Marshall’s cats. And then I sneezed for an hour straight because I’m allergic to cats.”
“You do too much, Lemon. You need to stop all this other shit and just focus on the shop.”
“I wish. But once the shop is up and running, I would love to cut out some of the other random stuff I do and just focus on it. But it can take small businesses up to three years to turn a profit. So, I might not be able to. And I’m going to need to make enough to hire someone else to help at the shop. Because I can’t be there all the time when it’s open and also do all my other stuff.” She lets out a long sigh. “I don’t know. I’ll figure it out, I guess.”
“You know I’ll help you in any way I can.”
“You’re already doing too much. You’re saving me literally thousands of dollars with the shelves. How are they coming along? Want to send me any in-progress pics? The last one you sent me was just a pile of wood.”
“They’re coming. I was out working on them tonight. Right until you called pretty much.”
“Seriously? That’s too much, Jameson. You start work on the farm insanely early. You can’t work until that late, too.”
“You let me worry about that, Lemon.”
“I don’t need you tired and getting hurt at work or with a saw, or something.”
“You worried about me, babe?”
