I wrap my fingers in her hair and rest my forehead against hers as I close my eyes and marinate in this feeling. “You’re everything, Lux,” I breathe out. “I’m so fucking honored to call you my wife. I love you, baby.”

Lux stares at me with parted lips before a smile breaks out on her face. “I love you too, Teo,” she whispers. “And I’d choose this life over and over again if it meant choosing you.”

She snuggles into me and I’ve never felt so satisfied in my life. I know it’s wild that we haven’t known each other long, but we’ve fallen in love with each other, and I can’t imagine a stronger woman than Lux standing by my side, becoming the mother to my children, keeping me on my toes each of every day.

MATTEO

Three Months Later

“You ready to do this, Teo?” Enzo asks as we stand in Brooklyn Bridge Park, the home of the best view of the New York City skyline, and where I took Lux on our first date.Who knew I could be so fucking cheesy.

“That depends,” I say as I fidget with the lapels of my suit jacket. “Did you remember the rings like I asked you to?” Enzo’s eyes widen as he pats the pockets of his slacks and jacket.

“I swear, Enzo, I will fu?—”

“Oh, here they are!” he yells, pulling the small black ring box out of the inside pocket of his suit jacket. He gives me a wink before laughing. “Man, you should see your face right now.” Patting me on the shoulder, he adds, “Lighten up, Teo. You’re getting married! Well, remarried, I guess. What do they call these things again?”

“Vow renewal, Enzo,” I grit out, my anxiety getting to me, knowing Lux will be here any minute. “And if you had lost thering that Lux chose, I really would’ve fucking killed you.” Since the wedding band Lux has is a family heirloom, I had her pick out an engagement ring to go with it. We decided to stick with the band I already have, but I had it inscribed with our vow renewal date without her knowledge. She thought I left it with our jeweler to have it cleaned.

The past few months have been filled with her and I getting to know each other, inside and out, the old fashion way of dates and, well. . . having the best sex of my entire fucking life. I had no idea it could get better every single time we’re together.

Having the relationship I do with Lux is something I never thought I’d have. My wife was always meant to be a business transaction, but Lux is so much more than I could have ever imagined. She might’ve started as an arrangement between that psychopath of a father she had and me, but she quickly became the most important person in my life.

Not only are Lux and I doing well, but Char and I have developed a good relationship too, and I have to admit, it’s nice having a mother figure back in my life again. After we got her back from Mancini, I made it my mission to win her over and prove to her I’m nothing like that fucking man. My efforts are proving to be working well in that department.

I feel the vibration from my phone go off. Pulling it out from my pocket, I see it’s a text from Char.

Char: We’re pulling up to the park now. The dress fit Lux perfectly. Izzy had to threaten her to keep her from crying and ruining her makeup.

A smile breaks out on my face, knowing that my beautiful wife will be here any minute.

Me: Tears of joy or tears of anger with wanting to kill her husband for keeping her in the dark about her own wedding for so many weeks now?

Char: Tears of joy, and possibly embarrassment. She has no idea how she never caught on to what you’ve been planning.

I had to be sneaky when planning this vow renewal. With how things started between the two of us, I wanted to make our marriage ceremony special for her. I wanted it to mean something instead of just being words repeated back and forth to each other for the sake of it.

I had Isabella and Char bring Lux to Liana’s boutique to get her measurements done for a dress Liana is making for an event we have to go to in a few months. I could not have planned it to go any better than it did, because while Liana was taking down her measurements, she gave Lux her portfolio of designs, which included a line of wedding dresses she’s been working on, to see if there was anything that caught her eye.

Falling right into the trap, Lux voiced how much she loved a particular wedding dress design, and then it was a cake walk from there. Char and Isabella surprised her with the dress and doing her hair and makeup a couple hours ago, and now they’re all almost here. I’m about to get married to my wife all over again, and I can’t fucking wait.

One of my G-Wagons pulls up, and my heart skips a beat knowing that on the other side of those tinted windows sits the woman I’ve fallen madly in love with.

Isabella and Char hop out in their dusty-blue dresses and round the SUV to help Lux out. After what feels like an eternity, my breath catches as I finally get the first glimpse of thelove of my life as she walks toward Enzo and me with her mother and my sister flanking her sides.

She’s a damn vision with her dark hair in a fancy updo and some strands hanging loose around her face. Her smile stretches wide from ear to ear as she makes her way toward me in an elegant and modern strapless satin gown with a slit high enough to give me a tease of what I’ll have wrapped around my waist tonight. Or sooner, if I’m lucky.

Holding out my hands, Lux comes to me willingly, excitement radiating off her. “I can’t believe you kept all of this from me. I feel so dumb for not putting it together,” she says as I line her up in our spots.

“I wanted this to be a surprise for you and to make it as memorable as I could,” I say while Char walks around us and takes her spot where an officiant would.

Lux glances over at her mother in confusion. “You’re doing the ceremony for us?”

Smiling at her daughter like she’s the greatest joy in her life, Char says, “Since you’re already married, anyone can conduct the ceremony. But Teo, knowing you as well as he does, knew you’d want it to be private, so I volunteered to perform the ceremony so you truly are just surrounded by the people who love you most.”

Letting go of my hands, Lux throws her arms around her mother and hugs her before pulling back. “We’ve really come full circle, haven’t we, Mom. New York City was the reason we had to constantly move.” Lux takes a second to look around at me, Enzo, and Isabella before turning back to her mother. “And now it’s the reason we’re finally able to settle down.”
