“Not even close.”

“Close enough.”

“I need my money. Dance for me. You’ll make more than one hundred a night, trust me.”

“I don’t trust you. Never will. And I won’t dance for you.”

“I need my money or I’m going to the police.”

She shifted in her seat. “Why do you always use fighting words?”

“Why are you so scared of the police?”

“Mind your business.”

“Until you pay me in full, you are my business.”

“Ugh. Okay, look, if I dance for you, you’ll only be paying yourself? How about we skip the dancing part and you just pay yourself. Problem solved. I’m going to need that in writing though.”

“Not happening. Usually, I pay a dancer to dance for me when I get bored,” He lied. “Instead of paying one of my dancers, I’ll pay you.”

“Not happening. Starting next week, I’ll be able to pay you more. I swear.”

“Oh, really?”

“Yes. I plan to start singing more upbeat songs.”

Con chuckled. “And that’s going to make you more money?”

“Don’t laugh. It’s not funny. I’ll make more. Just wait and see.”

Con pretended to think her words over. Singing upbeat songs wouldn’t bring in more money for her. People came to Private Affairs to get away from their mundane lives and to be entertained.

Her songs weren’t entertaining. The only reason he’d offered her a singing gig was to keep her close to him. The only reason he’d offer to let her pay him in installments was so he could get to know her better.

He hadn’t expected to become so enthralled with her. Definitely not in such a short period of time. This was out of character for him. Even his driver and body guard, Yury, had noticed how affected he was by Criss.

Yury offered to kidnap her for him. Con turned the offer down. He’d save that as a last resort. Never in his thirty-six years had he been this gone over a female. It was frustrating as hell to want someone this badly.

Especially someone who always seemed disgusted by him. Most men would try to figure out what a female liked and pretend to be that in order to get the female. Not him. He would have Criss, soon.

And she would accept him just as he was. First, he needed to break down her tough exterior and get to know the real her. To do that, he needed to spend more time with her. Having her dance for him in his office would grant them the alone time he needed.

However, if she wanted a chance to prove she could make more money, he’d allow it. That way, when she failed and was forced to dance for him, he wouldn’t have to listen to her lame excuses.

“Okay. I’ll give you one weekend. If you don’t make more next weekend, you’ll either start dancing for me or I’m going to the…”

“Don’t say the P word.” She shivered.

“Pussy?”

She rolled her eyes. “Not that P word.”

“Penis?”

“Stop being a jerk. Police is the P word I’m talking about. I’ll make more money next weekend, you’ll see. Are we done here?”

She was always in a rush to be away from him. Con stood up and grabbed his jacket from the coat rack. After he slipped it on, he slipped his envelope into his coat pocket. He then held his hand out for Cristal, who sighed as she stared at his hand.
