“For that.” Lina nodded to Con.

Criss stared at Con. “I don’t get it,” she told Lina.

“He’s smiling. You did that. Thanks.” That said, Lina left Criss and Con alone.

Con pulled Criss into his embrace. “Are you a little mad or very mad at me for bringing your family here?”

“I’m very mad.”

“Truly?”

“Well… kind of. I know you want to help. But you can’t make decisions for me.”

“This Scott won’t stop. You can’t keep running.”

“I know.”

“Your family likes it here in Chicago. Let me help you keep them here.”

“It’s not as simple as that. Even if Scott leaves us alone, I have to find a good job…”

“You’re hired.”

“What?”

“Hired to do what?”

“Whatever you want.”

“What? That’s not how life works.”

“What do you want to do?”

“I…”

“What’s your dream job?”

“Well, before Scott became a constant problem, I used to want to own a plus size boutique.”

“Perfect. We’ll open you up a boutique.”

“Con…”

“And you can live here.”

“No. My family and I need our own space.”

“For what?”

“To be ourselves.”

“Okay. The house next door is empty. I’ll buy it for you.”

“Con, you’re doing it again.”

“Doing what?”
