Con smiled. Those days were over. He stared down at Criss. Though her eyes were closed, he knew she was awake. She was using her finger to draw circles on his chest. He wondered if she even realized she was doing it.

He wasn’t ready for this moment to end. He wasn’t ready for them to get dressed and step out of the office and back into reality. Right now, in this space, in this moment, everything was perfect.

There were no job obligations for him to deal with. There was nothing for her to worry about or fear. It was only him and her. No worries. Just this… whatever this was. Love? No. But it felt good. And he knew it would only get better from here.

Unable to keep his hands off of her, Con trailed his fingers over her side. Her skin was so smooth. He’d never get tired of touching her. He only hoped that his lifestyle and his attitude didn’t push her away in the future.

He would try his best not to let his work life affect their life. And as far as his attitude, he would keep that in check too. Con held in his chuckle. He couldn’t believe he was actually lying there, making plans for the future.

In the past, all he’d planned was to make it through the last year and retire somewhere quiet. Beyond that, he hadn’t thought too much of his future. Now that he had Cristal and her family in his life, he couldn’t stop thinking about the future and what he’d like to do for them.

His phone began to ring, disturbing the peaceful silence of the room. Bringing an end to their moment. Reality was calling. Con didn’t want to answer. Not yet. He wanted to enjoy this quiet time with Criss.

Because the days ahead were going to be hectic.
