Malaysia

“Malaysia, we look forward to seeing you at Sunday dinner from time to time.” Dr. Daniels grinned.

I kept a smile plastered on my face. A rush of heat flowed through my body. I squeezed my clammy palms. The nerves in my stomach were overwhelming.

“If you all would excuse me. I need to find the powder room.”

“Sure, Malaysia, head up the stairs and the first door on your left is a private powder room,” Dr. Daniels stated.

I nodded, then turned on my heels, gathering the front of the gown before taking the wide, yellowish-tan marble staircase.

The moment the bathroom door closed, I slumped over on the floor, crying in my beautiful red glittery gown.

Why am I going along with this ruse?

I was leaving in four months. I clenched my eyes closed at the thought of not being in Ethan’s presence any longer.

“Malaysia.” I jumped at the sound of Ethan’s voice.

He pounded on the door, not allowing me a minute to pull myself together. I cracked the door open. He popped his head inside. Ethan’s eyes widened, and his face reddened as his gaze roamed my wet face. He rushed in, closing and locking the door behind him.

“Malaysia, what’s wrong?”

“Us.” I stared into his warm blue eyes.

Ethan grabbed a hand towel from the decorative gold fixture. He cupped my face, patting the tears away.

“Baby, talk to me?”

I marveled at the handsome man’s perfect appearance. Technically, he’s wasn’t perfect, but the way he cared for me made him perfect. His moussed blond hair was cut lower on the sides and combed up and over in front. Not curly like he normally wore it.

So, fucking sexy. No beard today, clean shaven. How I wanted this man for myself. But I kept talking myself out of it with my crazy thoughts. It’s just sex, Malaysia. The best sex you ever had in your life. But nothing more.

Leaning on my tippy toes, I crashed my lips into Ethan’s. I caressed his neck with my fingers. He stroked my ass.

He broke our kiss. “One sec.” He stepped back, peeking out the door. Ethan scooped me up into his arms.

“Ethan, what are you doing?”

“There isn’t anyone upstairs. I’m taking you to my bedroom.” We entered his masculine room. He closed and locked the door behind us. The darkened room, drowned out the laughter of the crowd downstairs. The light cascaded through the slatted white blinds covering the large window, shining on us in the middle of the spacious room. I stepped away.

“Did your mother redecorate in here?” I ran my fingers over the sleek black desk lamp under the window.

“Yes, she did.”

“Do you ever sleep here?”

“Sometimes after Sunday dinner.”

I smirked over my shoulder. “When was the last time you’ve been to Sunday dinner?”

He flashed that sexy smile as he removed his gold cufflinks, placing them on the desk. “October.”

“It’s been a while since I’ve had Sunday dinner with my family, too. You and I spend almost every Sunday together.”

Ethan pulled me back into his arms. “Why were you crying?”
