Malaysia, I forgot to mention my father was stopping by. Please entertain him until I arrive. If he asks, tell him you are my girlfriend.

“Dr. Daniels, I’ll take your coat.”

“Thank you, Malaysia.” He placed his coat in my arms.

I hung his coat, walked into the kitchen, flipping on the recessed lights.

“I cooked chicken marsala last night. Would you like me to prepare a plate for you?” I placed my hands over my face.

“I don’t know what I was thinking. Of course, you don’t.” I fiddled with my fingers.

His lips turned upward at the corners. “No, I’d love to try some. I bet it’s delicious.”

I smiled then turned to the fridge. His father’s hair was blond with hints of gray. Ethan was tall like his father. His belly was round. He probably didn’t miss a meal. Maybe that was why he was willing to taste my cooking.

“Ethan is on his way. He should be here any moment,” I stated, sitting the plate in the microwave.

“Malaysia, how did you and Ethan meet?”

I smirked. “We met over drinks one night. We’ve been inseparable.” I chuckled.

We’ve been inseparable all right, between the sheets.I need a drink now.

I sat the piping hot plate before him. “Join me for a glass of red wine?”

“Yes.”

His gray silk suit made him appear presidential.

After pouring the wine, we sipped from our glasses. Dr. Daniels shoveled forkfuls of food into his mouth.

He hasn’t stopped eating. Does this mean he likes my cooking?

The door slammed.

“Hello!” Ethan yelled, walking into the condo wearing a wide grin.

“Dad, you met my girlfriend, Malaysia.” Ethan tossed his black tweed coat onto the tan leather sofa. He walked over to his father, wrapping his arms around him.

“Yes, Malaysia is sweet.”

I sipped the delicious, expensive red wine.

Ethan stepped over, kissing my forehead. “She sure is.”

“She’s a great cook, too.”

I waved my hands, shaking my head. “That is very nice of you to say, Dr. Daniels.”

“Malaysia has done her fair share of research.”

I smiled. “Dr. Daniels, you’re an impressive man. You hold two PHD’s, one in chemistry and the other in physics. I can’t wait to read what your future projects will be.”

Dr. Daniels sipped the wine. “Malaysia, you will be in attendance at my wife’s festive party in two weeks, right?”

I glanced at Ethan. His hand swayed over my waist line.

“I don’t know.”
