“Malaysia, Ok?”

Her eyes darted over to me. “Yeah, Ethan, Ok.”

I grabbed two bottles of water from the fridge. “Let’s start your tour.” I winked.

Walking through the busy halls, nurses gasped and whispered in passing. I was tempted to thread our fingers and really give them something to talk about. Trying to keep the bulge down in my pants was next to impossible.

Desperately, I longed to wrap that ponytail around my hand and fuck her until she came. I couldn’t get enough of Malaysia. I hated admitting how bad I wanted her in my bed the past few nights. I was having fucking withdrawals. That ass in the yoga pants would for sure give me blue balls.

“Malaysia, let’s stop by the nurses’ station a moment.”

She halted at the counter. I stepped behind the desk, hopping on a free computer.

“Hello, Dr. Daniels!” the nurses chimed.

“Hello, all. I’d like to introduce you all to my friend, Malaysia. I’m taking her on a tour of the hospital.”

Malaysia smiled and waved. “Hello.”

Some of the female doctors and nurses were pleasant, others were down right rude.

Nurse Olander’s eyes widened, glaring between Malaysia and me.

Malaysia held a confused look on her face. I never told her my conversation with Nurse Olander.

I’d let her down easy. I’d told her I wasn’t dating anyone right now. Partial truth.

I was fucking Malaysia who didn’t want to discuss our relationship other than in the casual meaning. I continued to play along.

The look on nurse Olander’s face Monday led me to believe she knew Malaysia wasn’t a platonic friend. She sure isn’t.

I printed the documents I needed and stepped around the counter, running my hand along Malaysia’s lower waist. We strolled past the station toward ICU. I figured I’d give the ladies something to talk about. I chuckled inside. Too often those women asked me out for drinks. Several times I’d told them no. Maybe Malaysia’s presence would keep them from asking for drink dates in the future. I didn’t make time to date. It was my own fault. I had mixed feelings about Malaysia not expecting anything from me. I saw her point. We weren’t dating, so technically I didn’t have to do anything. However, I wanted to.

“Malaysia, why did you turn down Dr. Stephens?”

She glanced my way as we came to a halt in the hallway of the ICU wing.

“I’m not ready to date. I told you that. We haven’t talked about my family drama in great detail. Its not your problem. We don’t have to discuss it.”

I felt shitty. I hadn’t asked about her family situation because I didn’t want to pry. Sunday was the first night we’d had a nice talk. Truthfully, she was the only woman I’d like to continue to get to know.

“Malaysia, I want to know what’s going on.” I leaned into her ear. “Just because we are friends with benefits doesn’t mean I don’t want us to be deeper friends outside of the bedroom.”

“Is that your patient?” She pointed.

She ignored my statement.

“Come here.” I grabbed her hand leading her closer to the glass.

“The patient has a gunshot wound to the head. The loss of oxygen to the brain was extensive. He’ll be prepped for surgery soon. His heart will be donated to a heart transplant patient.”

She gasped, placing her hand over her mouth. “That’s so sad. He had a life earlier today. Now he’s brain-dead and can’t be saved.”

I rubbed her shoulder, kissing the side of her temple. “I know. Let’s go.”
