Karma felt a tingling up her spine as she took the drink order of the group at the table. It was a mixed group of three men and two women.

“Oh my god there he is.” The brunette woman of the duo squealed to her blonde friend. “He is just as hot now as he was earlier.”

“And he is totally not interested in you.” One of the guys in the group pointed out.

“You don’t know that.” The brunette responded. She stood up and wiggled her extra short dress up a little further. Karma wanted to point out that if her dress got any shorter, it would be a choker, but that wasn’t nice, and she wasn’t trying to put any bad mojo out in the cosmos. She couldn’t afford for it to come back on her. She threw a quick peek over her shoulder to verify that the person who attracted this woman’s attention was the same reason her body was on fire.

She didn’t question the universe in how she gained knowledge that he was close by she just went with the flow. She received a few texts from him while he was gone. Mostly telling her of his movement. He didn’t mention what had taken him out of town and she didn’t ask.

Her eyes showed her that she was right. It was Buck that this heifer had her sights on. Her Buck.

“A man can tell when another man is not interested in a woman.” The guy spoke to his companion. “Besides it was obvious to everyone that he blew you off this afternoon.”

“If that is the case then why is he coming this way,” she scoffed. A sexy smile graced her lips before the conversation could go further, Buck arrived.

“Ladies.” Buck greeted the two women. He gave the men a head nod in acknowledgment. He turned to Karma before they could engage him in conversation.

“Beautiful,” he breathed out in a husky voice full of desire before sweeping her up into his arms and kissing her with barely contained passion. She ignored the loud “Fuck” that sounded behind her as she lost herself in Buck.

It was the sound of chanting of Buck’s name and stomping vibrating through the floor that finally broke through her consciousness, a flush crawling up her neck. There was wild applause from the crowded bar as everyone cheered on their kiss. It was quite clear that everyone in the bar was happy to see Buck kissing with Karma. Everyone except for the brunette and her blonde friend.

“I missed you too,” she breathed against his mouth when he finally let her up for air. Her lips were on fire just from his kiss. He managed to convey so many feelings in a single moment. Passion. Joy. Love. All of the things that Karma had been hoping to find when she set out on her journey of self-discovery, but was starting to believe didn’t exist for her.

“Will you marry me?” Karma stood still with shock.

She looked deep into his eyes, his soul and found an echoing of her feelings shining out from the depths of his beautiful amber eyes.

“Yes—yes I will marry you.” She didn’t stop the tears of happiness welling up in her eyes. They started to fall at sight of the ring he held out for her. It was a sapphire solitaire with a diamond wrap. “How did you know that sapphires were my favorite stone? Most men would have gone with a diamond.”

“I called your father. I spoke with him and your mother at length. Told them how I meet their daughter on the side of a mountain and fell in love with her as she threatened to bean me with a baseball bat if I attempted to probe her.”

Karma groaned, hiding her face in her hands. Buck laughed, uncovering her face as he slipped the ring onto her left ring finger. “I told them that I wasn’t going to probe you, but I was definitely going to abduct you and keep you forever.”

“That is fine. Because I have plans to keep you forever.” Karma reached up and pulled his head down to hers. “I love you, Buck Raleigh.”

“And I love you, Karma Martin.” Buck kissed her.
