“We’re just gonna go ahead and put you in cabin five,” Patricia informed her.

“Cabin five?”

“Yes, for some of our guests who are going to be here with us for a while we have cabins. I don’t know how long it will take Buck here to fix your car, but I want you to be comfortable while you’re here,” she came around the desk and led both Buck and Karma out the door and to the right. Karma stood there gaping in surprise at Patricia’s words. People in San Diego were friendly, but not this friendly. Yet here, a total stranger was be concerned for her comfort. Shaking her head, she jogged to catch up.

Karma gasped in delight at the sight of the cabins that were scattered throughout the woods as she followed Patricia along the lighted path that led to the cabin with the number five burned into the wall next to the door. It resembled a miniature log cabin. It was adorable.

Patricia unlocked the cabin door, reaching inside, turning on a light that must’ve been next to the door. With the inside illuminated, Karma was able to see that it was a one concept cabin. There was a queen-size bed stashed to one side. Across from that was a small seating area grouped in front of the unlit fireplace. Next, to it a small kitchen area that held a fridge, a small stove, and sink.

“Now through that door is the bathroom,” Patricia gestured, “It is a full-size bathroom so don’t be afraid that you’re stuck without being able to get cleaned up. We currently don’t have any guests so there should be plenty of hot water for you to use.” She continued the tour through the small cabin.

She gestured at the wall, pointing out such things as the thermometer to adjust to heat or air conditioning. The latches on the windows to open and close them. “Now occasionally we get a bear that wanders down off the mountain to explore town but don’t worry if that happens, the sheriff would notify everyone.” She calmly explained.

“Now included in the price of your room is breakfast over at the One-stop Grill. It is served all day long, so you just mosey on over there whenever you get hungry. You have any questions the number to the front desk is over here by the phone. You can make local calls in the valley, but you’re going to need to purchase a phone card if you attempt to make a long-distance call out of the Valley. If you have any other further questions just call the front desk. You have a good night.” She looked between Buck and Karma before leaving them alone in the cabin.

Buck had set Karma’s backpack down next to the bed when they first entered the room. He headed towards the door as it closed behind Patricia.

Pausing, he stopped and glanced back at her. “Stop by the garage in the morning, and I should be able to tell you what’s wrong with your car,” he nodded.

“Thanks for all of your help, Buck,” Karma said to him holding out her hand. She looked up into his face. He was beautiful.

In the light, she could finally make out his features, and oh were they worth checking out. A strong square chin. Chiseled cheekbones. Elegant nose. A delectable mouth. And amazing amber colored eyes blazed in his bronze tinted face. He must have removed his cap when stepping into the cabin, his wavy brown hair fell around his face. It looked so soft that Karma had to force herself not to touch it, run her hands through it though she was dying to explore the texture. He shook her hand causing her skin to sizzle. She felt bereft when he released her hand.

She was going to act like some little teenager and never wash her hand again. She walked him to the door. She closed it gently behind him as he left leaning her back against it sighing in delight as she looked down at her hand.

“Good God what a man.” She whispered as she held her hand up to her chest.
