Page 9 of Craved By The Pack

Adrian winked, and their alpha leader, Ryder, rolled his eyes. I already liked Adrian. He had that type of personality I got along with. He was easygoing and didn’t take himself too seriously.

“Enough flirting,” said Ryder gruffly. “Take us through what happened. What did you see or hear?”

I took a deep breath, remembering all the crazy events that happened in the past two days. I told him everything I could remember, even the creepy voicemail.

“So now I’m scared to sleep in my house because he could be in any of the rooms,” I said.

Saying it out loud sounded so ridiculous I was embarrassed.

“The pack will do a check of your home,” said Ryder without blinking an eye. “Guys, check every room and cranny. We need to make sure the vagrant isn’t still lurking about.”

I led them inside the house and watched them all go in different directions. The delta named Cooper checked the outside, and Lucas went upstairs. Adrian and Ethan headed downstairs to check out the basement and theater.

“I feel much safer already,” I said to Ryder, who stood with me in the kitchen as he stared at the note on the counter without touching it.

“Do you know who could have written this note?” he asked, taking several pictures of it and placing it in a bag while wearing gloves.

“Not really,” I said. “This never happened before.”

“With the string of omega cases on the news- anything is possible,” he said, pocketing the note. “First thing is we need to install cameras in your home. I’m surprised you didn’t install any. A high-profile singer such as yourself needs it.”

“Umm, yeah,” I said. “I didn’t have time to look into that. But yes, you’re right.”

“For now, we will install one in your living room. Next, I’ll need to know your schedule,” he said, taking out a notepad and pen. I was surprised by the intensity and seriousness of this whole thing. I was usually very flippant about my safety and couldn’t care less. But these incidents did strike fear in me.

“I go to the studio around nine in the morning,” I said.

“We’ll meet you here tomorrow and escort you to the studio,” he said. “May I see your phone, please?”

“For?”

“The voicemail,” he said.

“But I deleted it.”

“There are ways to recover it,” he said, holding his hand out with contained patience. I could tell he was getting irritated with me, but I didn’t care. It was my personal belonging. I unlocked my phone and handed it to him, worried about what he’d find. “What’s this?”

“What?” I asked, my heart pounding as I peered at the phone. He somehow managed to pull up an old deleted video of some porn I watched a few days ago. I gritted my teeth with annoyance. “That’s totally unnecessary.”

“I’m just going through your deleted files,” he said. His lips twitched, and I knew he thought it was amusing to find that on my phone. I was mortified. I thought I’d gotten rid of it forever and even deleted it twice, but he managed to pull it up from the recesses of my phone. “There. Is this it?”

He played the voicemail on the speaker. The eerie masked voice playing in the kitchen felt like a violation. It made me feel sick.

“That’s the one,” I said.

“I’ll forward it to myself,” he said. Then he handed my phone back. “I added my phone number in your contacts so you’ll know right away who’s calling.”

“Oh, okay, thanks,” I said. I was usually so disorganized and clumsy about these things. He was precise in his job and organized on a level I’d never been before.

The guards returned to the kitchen, standing around the granite top I was leaning on. Being surrounded by all these males after years of being alone was odd. My middle clenched unwillingly. I took a couple of deep breaths to calm down. As an omega, it was tough inhaling the alphas’ scents. Their scent was made to arouse an omega and to make her submit underneath him, legs spread.

It was in our biology. It’s why I had to take heat suppressants daily.

“Everything looks good,” said Ethan, rubbing his beard. “Hopefully, Ryder wasn’t giving you a hard time, my darling.”

“Nope,” I said with a smile. The only serious person here was Ryder, who hadn’t cracked a smile the entire time except when he discovered the offending video on my phone. Maybe he took delight in my discomfort.

“Alright then, we’ll see you tomorrow,” said Ryder. “I advise you not to leave your home under any circumstances unless one of us is around you. Call me if anything happens between now and tomorrow.”
