It felt like the weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulders after my confession. I felt lighter, freer, and the hidden resentment between us vanished. My mom was hurt when I ran away from home, and I felt it every day in my heart, but I couldn’t address it.

Until now.

“I’m so sorry,” said my mom, simply holding me with her arms around my neck and her cheek pressed to mine as we looked in the mirror. “I knew you weren’t okay before you left. I heard you crying in your room for nights on end, and I felt so hopeless. I thought it would help for you to be around Grandma. I love you so much.”

“I know, Mama. I’m just so happy to be marrying the best guys in the world today,” I sighed.

“I couldn’t wish for better,” she agreed. “I just want to see you happy. And if these are the men you trust, I support you one hundred percent. I can’t believe you carried this secret for so many years.”

“I couldn’t say anything,” I said. “Grandma told me how you truly met my dads.”

“I’m not surprised she told you,” said Tiana, sounding annoyed. “Considering how much time you two spend together. I fell in love with your father, Grant since the moment I saw him. I was lucky in that, and I don’t regret any moment with him.”

“Well, Grandma made it sound much worse,” I said.

“You know how she is,” my mom winked, and we laughed together. She gave me one more kiss on my cheek. “Let’s get you ready on your big day, okay? I want you to be happy and excited now.”

“Okay,” I said smiling, my heart light.

Lio

“Man, today’s the day,” said Markus excitedly, wringing his hands as we sat in the limo provided by the Royal Pack. “We’re going to finally make it official.”

“Hell yes,” I said, straightening the red rose on my suit jacket. We all wore matching roses pinned to our black suits. My heart thumped at the thought of seeing Alana again, but this time in her wedding dress, marrying us.

“Hopefully, James can arrive in time to the palace,” said Owen. “I don’t know why he didn’t want to ride with us.”

King Armon offered to host our wedding to support us and to show the entire island that the vampires were welcome. The crimes against the vampires were escalating as the people tried destroying their startup businesses or not buying from them at all. I thought it was a smart move on the king’s part to stop some of the hate.

“He’ll be there,” I reassured Owen. We had all gotten used to James flitting in and out of the house. As a leader of his people, he was busy managing things with his people and giving speeches. I wasn’t sure exactly what the hell he did, but all I knew was that it would be better if he spent more time with Alana. She was happier and more excited when we were all together. “Shit, look at all the people.”

There was a crowd in front of the palace grounds, blocked by a red rope to hold them back. There were a shit ton of delta guards, cops, and reporters everywhere. Cameras immediately turned to our limo as we parked in front of the pathway to the entrance.

“Fuck,” said Markus. “I can’t wait until all this is over and consummate our marriage to Alana.”

“I know, right,” said Owen in a low voice. He despised crowds.

“Guys, we got this,” I said, rolling my neck and cracking my knuckles. I saw King Armon step out of his palace wearing regal red robes lined with gold. His wife, Queen Ophelia, stood beside him with a smile. “Let’s marry our omega.”

We got out of the limo, and the loud snapping of the cameras surrounded us on all sides. The crowd cheered, and Markus pumped his fist into the air. I smiled. Markus looked like he enjoyed the attention. I scanned the crowd for James and couldn’t see him.

Fuck.He needed to be here now.

Our fiance would be walking down the aisle soon, and I wanted to make sure we were all at the altar, waiting and ready for our future bride. I walked towards King Armon with my pack following close behind me. I was thankful the crowd wasn’t rowdy or hateful when they saw us. For months the news depicted us as sympathizers to the vampires and traitors. There was an entire hate campaign directed at the vampires. I rarely saw a vampire strolling on the street, in the shops, or even outside in general. They were still hiding and afraid of being staked by the common people on the island.

“Today’s the big day!” boomed King Armon, shaking my hand, and I smiled widely. “Ready to marry your omega today?”

“I’m more than ready,” I said as we stood at the entrance.

“Where’s the vampire?” asked Armon.

“James. He’ll be here soon,” I said, turning my head back at the crowd and shading my eyes to see. Just as I said it, loud drumming sounded in the distance. I squinted my eyes to see what the hell was happening.

The crowd cleared a pathway to the new arrival, and I saw James arriving with an entourage of his people.

They were dressed in all different colors, festive and beating drums as they followed behind him. Their skin was translucent in the sun, and they had big smiles on their faces that showed off their fangs. He had brought his vampires with him and was being carried on a large throne-looking chair. I smiled, shaking my head.

He grinned widely when he saw me. Our professional photographer was going nuts, taking pictures from every angle.
